Erik Karlsson always had something of a Bobby Orr kind of thing going for him but he had to work on the defending part of the game quite a bit. I have the sense that Lundkvist comes from the opposite end of that---that the defense came first and he's built an offensive game on top of that.

Well, lately he's actually been having a bit too much self-confidence, making dangerous plays that have and could have resulted in GA.

But when (if...) the playoffs go underway, it'll be a different game and he'll tidy that up I'm sure because he's been very safe up until the last few games when they've already been decided league winners. So defensive cleanliness hasn't exactly been on top for the team, until the last two periods of the season today when they were back to normal again.

Management should really try a top 4 of DeAngelo-Trouba Lindgren-Fox (or Lindgren with Trouba and DeAngelo with F0x) if the plan is to slide Nils in at some point next year.

Miller-Lindkvist would be a fun pair to follow in the A though.

I agree, except switch sides with DeAngelo and Trouba. DeAngelo cannot play the left. He has enough problems on the right.

Lundkvist is ready. I wouldn’t have been surprised to see him get time for the Rangers before the end of this season if it continued, or continues.

It will be interesting who he pairs with next year between Staal, Smith Hajek, Rykov, Robertson, and Miller. Would love to see Robertson or Miller improve enough this offseason to win that battle. I think it’s quite unlikely that happens.

Thanks. Have you heard any rumors of them postponing the playoffs?

Here's what I know:

In Germany, Austria, Latvia and Norway they have cancelled the remainder of their season
In Finland, Russia and Sweden they are playing games in empty arenas

It seems to be a matter of time before they postpone/cancel the play offs in those latter 3 countries.

What is this based on? DeAngelo's movement would allow him to more easily adjust to playing the opposite side. He played on the left in juniors as well. Trouba has, as far as I know, no experience in that, and he's not as smooth a skater as DeAngelo (or Fox).

The decision for the moment is that SHL has postponed the playoffs until 24th, and then it'll be a 5-game series.

I'm very doubtful though that this will hold, the ban on crowds will not be off already in 2 weeks, totally unlikely. The rumour is that the teams wanted to close down the season completely right away, but the TV rights holder (CMore) wants to hold on to it as long as possible.
I assume if they'd scrap playoffs now the teams would save salary expenses, whereas if they wait the TV company will be able to keep viewers subscriptions a few more weeks. So it's just a matter of who'll take the losses.

His official 2019/20 records:
SHL Most Assists by Junior (20)
SHL Most Points by Junior (31)

He also has these, unofficial:
SHL best +/- by Junior (+18)
SHL Most GWG by a D (4)

And here are the official All time season records:
SHL Most Goals by a Junior D (11), shared with Tomas Jonsson from 1978/79
SHL Most Assists by Junior D (20)
SHL Most Points by Junior D (31)

He also has the Highest PPG by Junior D (0.69) if > 4 games. In his case, it's 45 games. Closest behind is 0.59.

If I remember correctly that was actually one of the issues Trouba had early on with the Jets. Logjam on the right side with Buff and someone else so they played trouba on the left and he felt it was hurting his personal performance as he was coming into contract years (speculation). 100% agree though he should stay on the right. Really hope I didn't make this up haha

Update, did not make it up...https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/jacob-trouba-winnipeg-jets-1.3914884

None of the RDs are going to be switching sides.
It hasn’t been regular, (except DeAngelo-Fox when the Rangers are trailing:)

DeAngelo-Fox | 110:09 | 65.04 CF%
Fox-Trouba | 61:31 | 59.26 CF%
DeAngelo-Trouba | 37:09 | 54.26%

DeAngelo-Fox have played significantly more than DeAngelo-Trouba, and so cannot be attributed to randomness. What’s more is all of these pairs have done very well in their time together.

This is what Vegas uses, and they’re one of the best teams in the league:
LHD-LHD
LHD-LHD
LHD-RHD

The Rangers could use a less extreme:
RHD-RHD
LHD-RHD
LHD-RHD

Fox and DeAngelo are both excellent puckhandlers and passers. I really don’t see what the issue is.

Because it is extremely difficult to switch sides. Citing what DeAngelo did in juniors and in small sample sized in very specific situations in the regular season is nothing to hang your hat on.

I didn’t even know he did it in juniors too. But the only reasons it should be difficult are receiving passes on the backhand and making outlet passes, two things I don’t think would be a problem for either DeAngelo or Fox; Trouba I think it’d be a problem for, so I don’t think anyone can do it. Fox has incredible poise and DeAngelo skates around until he has an opening for a pass anyway.

There are a myriad of reasons that is hard. The whole game is different. From skating to defend to attacking There are reasons that there are very few players that can do this.

I would not want to experiment with DeAngelo whose defensive game, while improving, is still lacking
