I actually posted this earlier in the year, if you can dig it up, I said he wont be back mostly due to coaching, icetime, and overall being beyond pissed off.

Well, that was unexpected. He was asked during the presser and said his plan was to stay. We sure could've used him too. A shame!

It was complete BS, he had absolutely no intention of staying.

I figured it would be after 2 years, but he would not be a long time Canuck.

This is highly depressing and sad. But I guess he didn't really like it here. I don't remember who, but someone on 1040 said that Tryamkin could speak some English so it was kind of weird that he chose to have a translator at the year end presser and that he didn't like the fact Goldobin liked speaking English every opportunity he gets. I guess he had trouble fitting in.

Willie wasn't the first Canucks coach to bench a Russian for reasons of subpar conditioning but we knew Willie's usage pattern of rookies was bound to hurt the Canucks.

Edit: Oops I guess I posted this on two threads.

It could have left a sour taste in his mouth though.

But a lot of times, this happen due to money. The Canucks might have given him a 1 year or 2 year deal that wasn't what Tryamkin felt he was worth.

Hockey players are treated like royalty in this city...I highly doubt the Canucks even got around to discussing a contract with him and his agent..Nikita was going back to Russia ,simple as that..

I think he (and his wife) had a problem acclimatizing to the culture and language here..so he's going home (to play in a rink the size of Langley Events Centre)...He was fun to watch..

If what is being reported on this thread about Tryamkin questioning his use here then Willie and co. are very much to blame.

Willie was a complete disaster. He never looked beyond the next shift. His focus was always on the immediate and he didn't seem to care what happened down the road. If the player wasn't going to get out there and play Willie hockey right away, he was of no use. Just get him out of here. Send him back to Russia - just get him out of my hair was Willie's approach.

We needed a management that took the long view. If the coach wasn't with that then he needed to be fired. But instead the doughhead Linden protected Willie and let him totally decide on his use of players. Indeed, even when the weak kneed Benning said it was time to play the younger players, Willie balked and played garbage like Megna and such to try an eke out useless victories. Of course, the witless Benning did nothing.

Another sad day for the franchise and nothing is going to change till we root out the incompetency that plagues this organization.

No mater how we sugar coat it tho (which most aren't) This is a massive loss, the guy showed top 4, maybe top 2 potential this year.

With time, he could have been a stud for us, big loss

I honestly can't remember feeling as low in the immediate aftermath of losing a player. Other than Bure and your namesake.

That may seem over the top, but that's how excited I am about him. The only thing that's keeping me somewhat calm is the hope that this is a short term deal and he will be back. Worries about a Koltsov situation just won't stop bubbling up in my head, though.

Maybe the worst part about this is how small our backend is gonna be, alongside our forwards.

It's a disaster.

This is a tough one. I'm not for management getting in the way of a coach's ability to coach just like I'm not for ownership getting in the way of management's ability to make hockey personnel decisions. Now don't me wrong, I'm not suggesting that management shouldn't have input or that the coach shouldn't listen to the GM, I think in that working relationship there has to be some give and take. I agree that if a coach isn't on the same page as management he should have been fired / not brought back but not like what the Panthers did to Gallant. I also wouldn't say keeping Willie for those last games (after Benning said it was time to play the younger players) is a mistake. It surely did wonders for the Canucks getting the best draft lottery odds they possibly could.

At least now with a new coach coming in he can be confident that he would be allowed to coach without much in the way of management interference.

Well what a d***bag. I get that he wasnt too happy about the Willie-treatment but the fact that he even did not wait until a new coach was introduced shows his lack of desire to play at the highest level (or maybe he did not get the news as he does not understand English).

Sucks to see a prospect bolt, but him guys like him there is not much to win anyway.
