Nah he was a 2 year ELC due to his age.

If it's because of ice time the Desjardins has cooked us yet again.

2 mins less ice time than Sbisa per game. Only 20 seconds more than Larsen. I guess it's understandable.

I can only guess that Benning was giving him the Tanev treatment in negotiations. Or maybe he just missed home.

Hopefully he'll be back when we have a new (competent) management team, but I really wish he would have stayed a while longer.

You got to be ****ing kidding me. One of the few bright spots in this tirefire of a season, and he bolts because of an incompetent coach and management regime. Just another (of far too many) piece of evidence of how much of a laughingstock Benning and Linden have become. I can't wait to see how they spin this one...likely some garbage about players earning their ice time while scrubs like Sbisa and Sutter get handed minutes like its candy.

The worst part about this is it means that 1) Sbisa will be playing for us again next season, and 2) Juolevi might be forced into NHL action before he's ready so that the franchise can show they replaced one young defender with another.

Well I hope 40 games of Larsen was worth it. The treatment of Tram has been absurd.

Looked to be a player with major upside

Nikita Tryamkin: "I'm glad that I returned to Ekaterinburg"

Nikita Tryamkin returns from Canada to Yekaterinburg to play for the "Motorist". In an exclusive interview with the EAN, the hockey player told how and why he took this decision, that he thinks about today's game of "drivers" and whom he visited first of all in our city.

...

Do not you think that your transition from the NHL is a "game for a slide"?

"Who said it's worse here?" I do not think this is a step back. The decision about our joint future was taken by the whole family. Therefore, I do not think that this step "lowered itself".

...

At one of the recent press conferences, you said that "they just wanted to play hockey." Your transition to "Motorist" is associated with the desire to get more gaming practice?

Yes. During the season I was not happy with some matches. Sometimes I just did not understand - why? I could play 20 minutes, I could play 16, I could play 12. And on what it depended, I did not understand. So, having arrived in the "Motorist", I continue to work. I have gained colossal experience both in the hall and on the ice. I want to improve. And, as I said, I do not think this is a step back.

Did you meet the head coach? He was waiting for you very much. As late as November, there were rumors about your possible return ...

I had an incomprehensible situation. I did not play the first 10 matches. Indeed, there were talks about the return, but Vancouver did not let me go, so I stayed. As it happened, it happened.

...

What are your personal goals in the "Motorist"?

For you personally, first of all - to gain a foothold in the composition. Get a decent game time, and not so that for 12 minutes per game to go. This I do not want anymore. I have already experienced these feelings on myself. When you are not that you do not get pleasure from the game, but just sit, you look and understand that you can not do anything. And you just want to just enjoy the hockey, play as much as possible, try to be useful primarily to the team. Perform tasks with the command.

...

Did you follow the game of your native team last season?

Yes. Woke up in the morning, while breakfast - watched the game. Experienced. The native team.

Man this sucks but just maybe it's a one year deal. Russia did say they'd try hard to get players to return this year as they want them for the Olympics?? I'm reaching hard for a reason but I need something this is just so wrong.

This wreaks of poor player-coach-management communication from all levels of the organization as well as mis-utilization of a players talents, and is par for the course over the last three years. Vrbata being trashed after his first year here, Zack Kassian never receiving proper guidance on his game, Horvat being put on the fourth line to start this year, etc.

Its garbage like this that makes me not watch games even moreso than the poor on-ice product, because things like this prevent the product from ever getting better.

So, from the 2014 draft...

Virtanen: Restarting in the AHL
McCann: Florida
Demko: Promising in the AHL
Tryamkin: Russia
Forsling: Chicago
Pettit: Unsigned
Stewart: Long shot

Benning's first draft with the Canucks doesn't look too great after asset management the last few years.

Lost real toughness, skill and durability on the back end from this. Just laughable all around. A lot of the sleeping posters are in for a shock tomorrow when they read this.
