Tryamkin probably had a better coach and management in Russia then he had in Van. Probably a big reason he left.

I wouldn't want to work under people who I deem wildly incompetent either.

Just like McCann was a "pretty boy" and a problem in the locker room and as such we should just dump him for character+ mentorpede segment Gudbranson, and add right?

****ing idiotic asset management.

You don't let inmates run the asylum? I think that prison is a fairly apt metaphor for this team right now to be honest but it isn't about the player's being in charge, its' about Willie and Benning making down right stupid choices with the roster. Sbisa had more icetime than just about anyone this year, what in the world did he do better than Tryamkin to deserve that spot with Tanev so much? Oh right, the pervading notion right now is that Sbisa is vastly improved because he only makes major mistakes a little less often now?

The interview had it sounding that he was absolutely mystified to the reasons behind how much time he was playing, like the rest of us with many of Willie's decisions. The choice to keep him out for 10 games because he was "out of shape" was ludicrous and he's totally justified in being upset over that. It was nonsense, he stepped in after "getting in shape" over less than 30 days and was one of our best dmen. Benning and Co. are clueless

Remember when Virtanen was asked by a reporter while he was in Utica about what he had been asked to improve on by the WD? He looked confused and said something about needing to play harder. I wish I could find it, but it definitely seemed that WD hadn't ever spent more than a few seconds going over what he needed to do, and even that was just 'Play better'. Wouldn't be surprised if Tryamkin had a similar experience at all.

Speaking of letting inmates run the asylum. This is what happens when you hire an enemy to run your organization. Sleeper cell Bruin has destroyed this franchise for years. Aquilini, Linden, Benning, pretty much everyone involved in management has done so much damage to this franchise in the same timeframe as Messiers signing and leaving

Gotta wonder if Benning draft's for need with our '17 first now and takes a defenseman over taking BPA.

Such a f*****g bummer...I guess this is always the risk that you take drafting Russians (from Russia direct)..He obviously did not enjoy this season, but I think this has been in the works for awhile..He also said it was a 'family decision' to return.

Unlike Goldy,I think that Tryamkin has had a tough time adjusting to the culture here...Anyway,best of luck to him,and hopefully he changes his mind.

Separating emotion from this: It's a decision that makes sense for him. He had to sign a new contract with the team. His only NHL experience came from this last year under Benning + WD. So the decision is to sign a bridge and hope that the NHL experience changes to the opposite of what he has known, or go back to where he is comfortable and happy...? Seems like the prudent call for him and his family.

These types of players really need to be instilled with hope that the Franchise and their careers are moving forward. Without it, why would they bother?

This definitely has to have an impact on Benning's ability to find scoring by trading from the defense. Interesting times.

[MOD] Jim strikes again......sigh

Most likely no Tanev/Edler trade now. If we fall out of the top 2 in the draft, the clown probably reaches for a d-man.

Gudbranson's camp all smiles right now ready to bend over benning in contract negotiations.

Higher chance of Juolevi being rushed and ruined.

Will be cheering hard for this team to lose games next year there's no doubt about that.

I'm not exactly the #1 fan of Benning and WD, but really, they can't be blamed for everything.

I think that Tryamkin's choice is based on personal reason, not hockey related.

unbelievable, disgusting news to log into.

just another massive, massive failure by this regime. losing a 21 year old potential top 4 dman for nothing is just downright disgusting.

Meh. This is only an issue if he doesn't come back, if he wants to sit out a couple of rebuild tank years and then come back the world will go on. I can't really fault management for Tryamkin wanting 1st/2nd pairing time. Tryamkin is competing with Stretcher Gudbranson and Hutton for 2nd unit. He was getting 16-21min a game at the end of the season, not sure how much more he thinks he deserves based on being a rookie 3rd pairing guy.

I really think he must just be looking for excuses to go home because he is home sick.

I don't get this either..Its almost Cody-esque and a bit cheeky for a guy in his first year in the NHL

If it's a one year contact, or maybe two, I'll be able to deal with this. We're due to suck bad for a few years and will be more likely to bottom out without Tryamkin. It's also an Olympic year, and playing in Russia will mean he will get a good chance of playing. Very good chance the idiots in charge will be gone too.

Tryamkins Icetime..2016-17

11 mins TOI - 1 game
12 mins TOI - 4 games
13 mins TOI - 3 games
14 mins TOI - 7 games
15 mins TOI - 7 games
16 mins TOI - 16 games
17 mins TOI - 10 games
18 mins TOI - 7 games
19 mins TOI - 3 games
20 mins TOI - 3 games
21 mins TOI - 5 games

This is pretty decent ice time for a guy in his first year in the NHL,despite the fact we had WD.

How in the **** do you even let this happen?! If he wasn't going to wait for a new coach, then that means he probably was planning on leaving the whole season.

And he clearly wanted to play in the NHL prior to this season...

he probably thought he was better then he actually is

i hope people complaining about losing him are because of his potential.. because right now hes a gentle giant that would just help us tank more

hopefully its a 1 or 2 year and we get him back when the idiots are gone

Dear god, one of the few bright spots this year down the toilet.

Something is wrong in this organisation, I hope he goes home because he want to play in the olympics, or that this is a way to get more money frpm the Canucks.

But my gut feeling is that he feels that this team sucks and he wants no part of that and wonder why he was singeled out for being out of shape.
