Weird thing about Kucherov is he continuously gets better, even at 30. He's game is so cerebral.

I remember having discussions about it here some years ago, but his ppg in the first six years of his career is pretty impressive.

0.35 -> 0.79 -> 0.86 -> 1.15 -> 1.25 -> 1.56

Not many players get that consistently better year after year. Only after his 128 point season he had an "off year", only pacing for 102 points.

Gonna be at like 2.36 when he's 34. Still won't win a Hart because by then it'll be "one last dance" for someone out of left field because they're cool, Canadian, and smile for the camera.

Free Kucherov was a legit call to action early on. Kuch has improved, but Cooper has also taken the shackles off.

His points per game have gone up basically every year, but so has TOI and offensive zone starts.

I can't imagine Kucherov taking the risks he's made this year in years 1-4 without facing Coopers dog house

Congrats Kucherov!!!! We Lightning fans are fortunate to witnessed Kucherov's greatness. When anyone considers Kucherov does his best work against good teams, he's 50% of teams production this yr, parity in NHL today compared to past, and Kuch's playoff work to boot. Kucherov is one of the best, if not best wingers to ever play this game. We're all witnessing history being made. Also want to thank Kuch for being a team player 1st. If NHL was fair: you & your teammates would have honest award representation from work done during 2015-2023.

Haven't posted in awhile but a lurker here daily., but couldn't hold it back anymore with what Kuch has done this season. If bias, favoritism, and deserving is what won sport rewards. Kucherov would be MVP this season without question regardless results of scoring race. Throw in Kuch is a proven playoff performer when it matters most, what's really left to discuss? No "Cup" team has ever dealt with such low cap growth after winning Cup(s). With flat-cap: Lightning had to keep all that together with what, 2 million cap growth over 4yrs approx? No modern era "Cup" winning NHL team dealt with such cap-scraps after winning a "Cup", especially multiple "Cups". Now Kucherov is 50% of teams scoring after such depletion of winning team, that's an amazing feat in itself! No one can say... "Kucherov is just on a stacked team anymore, that's why he's doing good" It's ironic that Lightning players seem to hear that excuse when debating if a player deserves award or not. Other NHL stars don't get that noise, do they?
Lastly, we don't blame Kuch for having a chip on his shoulder one bit. Kuch has witnessed Lightning players get passed over individual awards since 2015. Lightning reached 6 of 8 ECF's, 4 SCF's, and winning two in 8 year time. But only 1 Hart, 1 Norris, and 1 Vezina during those 8 years? Not even a Jack Adams, best head coach job, for all that work on ice! If any of NHL's favorite teams did all that in 8 years time, they'd been showered with awards until it hurt. So when Lightning won "Cup", we understood where Kuch was coming from during legendary #1 BS interview. Kuch was brave and stood up for teammates like Vasy getting looked over & over. That was for Hedman also: if NHL player were asked who they wanted for their #1 defender: that answer for 6 yrs or so, would've been Hedman and he had stats to boot. But only one Norris? That honest #BS interview is one of the reasons to why Kuch's doesn't get same love when it comes to calls, media love unless Kuch takes it, etc. Kucherov let NHL know about their favoritism and they've been ate-up since!! Plus, he's Russian, but any NHL fan with a pulse already knows how Russians are treated in NHL. That's OK though, team accomplishments are more important and I bet Kucherov would say the same.

Shame it was sports that showed me 1st that it's about..... "The Who" more so than..... "The What", when it comes to humans judging. Politics should've taken that prize..... :(

Go Lightning!!!!!

Most assists in a season by a winger ever, 130 points, and accomplished in Toronto, the “center of the hockey universe”

I would have thought this would have been bigger news around the league this morning.

Empty net merchant. Didn’t try at the all star game. Bum.

Small market, not Canadian or American, bigger story would be Matthews 1 goal which is a damn shame.

The fact Kuch is up against 2 Canadians for the Hart and Art is a damn shame. There's no chance he wins the heart now. Voters ain't picking a Russian who plays in Tampa. Mac doesn't deserve it. Would rather see McDavid win that Mac, if our lord and savior Kuchy gets shafted

But dude, MacK plays a complete game, is a center, fast and physical. Kuch is a PP merchant, feeding on empty net goals that shouldn’t count anyway and gets secondary assists off legs of brave Canadian defenders.

Seems like Kucherov's case for the Hart Trophy has finally caught on in the hockey mainstream. It seems like no one realized just how much he was carrying us until the last couple of weeks.

It will come down to how bitter the voters still are about the All star weekend.

According to the mains the bigger story is 'secondaryassistgate', he didn't touch that puck.
