McDavid has more assists, just because he has less goals. If he would shoot more he would have less assists and probably less points. So these 100 assists seasons is just statistical thing. That would matter more if he remained with same number of goals or near as in the past season.

Well it looks like McDavid is going to cruise to 100 assists and become only the 4th player in history to achieve that mark.

As much as I've ragged on his play this season, the fact that McDavid at 50%-75% health with an obvious core injury and inability to shoot/handle the puck is matching career seasons from Kucherov and MacKinnon is absolutely insane and yet another indicator of just how far ahead of the rest of the pack he is. There really is no comparison to be made.

If he'd been healthy this year, there's no doubt he would've matched or eclipsed his legendary season a year ago. Guessing he ends up around 140ish points.

So this is the excuse when he loses in the playoffs again this year? Maybe rest up in the regular season and he won't be a career loser? Shame he's trying to hard to contend for the Art Ross he has to jeopardize his teams success over it.

Scoring race is wild this year - top trio scores is just all over the place on the scoresheet.

Show us on the doll where McDavid hurt you.

The hypocrisy of certain hockey fans and their lack of selfawareness is stunning. Pinning a lack of team success on one player who has delivered (and then some) in the playoffs is strike 1. Claiming that playing through injury is jeopardizing his team's success when *checks notes* his performance is the reason his team is having success is strike 2. Claiming McDavid has to or is "trying hard" to contend for an Art Ross and should, I don't know, try less hard to help his team win is strike 3.

I mean, this isn't new for you. Or others like you. Sports fans have an uncanny ability to convince themselves that an athlete's greatness is an existential threat to their emotional wellbeing and will go to any lengths to die on that irrational hill. Happened with MJ, LeBron, Brady, Fed, Nadal, Serena, Tiger, Mahomes et al. It's actually sad that you can't appreciate an athlete because of your own personal bias.

A little defensive are you? No one's asking for excuses. You're the one saying he's playing injured, kind of stupid when his team is prioritizing winning and he's going all out for a personal award.

Kucherov is the front runner, still amazed at how I was able to select him with the 10th pick in one of my fantasy hockey drafts...

Should be a fun day with all three playing.

Interesting minor point milestones for each to look out for:

With 3 points, Kucherov would have what will temporarily be the 4th highest point total in a season since the beginning of the 1999-2000 season. He would own two of them.

With 2 points, MacKinnon would pass Sakic for the highest point total in a season since the franchise moved from Quebec to Colorado.

With his next assist, as @jigglysquishy pointed out on a recent page, McDavid will become just the 12th player to record 90 assists in a season. With 2 points, he will pass Maurice Richard on the all-time scoring list for sole possession of 106th. 3 assists would vault him inside the top 25 for most assists in a season and a five-way tie.

i'd be so demoralized if I were Kucherov putting up all these 4-5 point games and still having McDavid close enough that I can't slow down at all and stay ahead

MacKinnon keeps his home point streak alive. Trails only Gretzky’s 40 in a row to start a season.

Ties Sakic at 120 for most points in a season since the move to Colorado.

It's impressive until you consider that Kucherov and MacKinnon are doing it at 13-17% health with obvious double core injuries and an inability to shoot/handle the puck due to the fact that they've been playing with wooden clubs instead of sticks.

If they'd been given proper equipment this year I calculate they would have eclipsed and likely doubled up McDavid's career total. Guessing they still end up with 150ish points each.
