It's amazing how defensive some fans get for these trophies. Some Lighting fans on Twitter and other networks are so insecure about it. No one gives an F about these if one of the guys losing wins the cup.

That said what the top 3 players are doing is something special all around.

-McDavid staying in the race with a injury and less GP.
-Kucherov having a great season. His involvement in nearly every goal scored is something.
-Mack carrying his team to the deadline to finally get some roster support. Also closing in on an insane home point streak record.

Just all around great hockey.

It’s all we have this season. Maybe this recent win streak brings in some hope but most of us expect the team to be out in the first round.

Outside of his early season injury he's scoring at the same pace as last season, more at even strength, and according to all Oilers fans playing much better defense. Also his next highest point total is 123, so this is far from a meh season lol

He’s on pace for his lowest goal scoring total in a full season since 16-17 (basically his first full season).

That goal total is poor by his standards, should have at least 6-10 more goals and that’s probably still too low.

His shot has been bothered by something, he has the lowest shooting percentage of his career right now, I don’t view that as some “dream season”.

Vasilecskiy was the main reason for that, although the defense has been terrible. Buuuut Vasy seeming to find his game has given us some hope.

McD scored 5 goals in last 21 games, quarter of a season (ie 20 goals pace on a full season).
His sharp decline in goals scoring is what preventing him to take over this points race.

Yeah but he's gonna be the first player in almost 35 years to hit 100 assists. That's absolutely astounding.

Might even be partially due to a hampered shot? Are guys scoring on McDavid rebounds a lot?

I watch every Oilers game, not only is the shot bothered, he's passing up high danger scoring chances to shoot almost every game.

Career worst shooting percentage usually is a bad year for most players.

Thank God for Zach Hymen I guess.

Looks like Kucherov might run away with the ross+hart+lindsay

Mcdavid os pretty far back and Kucherov/Mack arent really slowing down

Mackinnon while hot, isnt as hot as Kucherov. He has 2 pts in 2 games before 2 pts last game. 4 pts in 3 games hurts his chances lol

Kucherov adding that 2nd ross/hart/lindsay would be incredible for his legacy

I mean if Kucherov puts up 140, wins art ross and MVP with Tampa in the WILDCARD. It's at worst on part with Mcdavids 22-23, Narrative and all. Also could hit 100 assists.
Are we in an alternate reality in which McDavid's 22-23 doesn't exist?

In the past 30 years, there have been many seasons comparable to what Kucherov's doing and some that are much better (McDavid, Mario). Adjusted for league scoring, 15-16 Patrick Kane had an outstanding season, close to what Kuch is doing now.

And this year alone, McKinnon is right there with Kucherov. So clam your tits?

McDavid hit 88 assists tonight. This is second only to his 89 assists from last year for most amongst active players.

Only 11 players have ever hit 90 assists. He is looking to be the 12th player to hit 90 assists soon.
He is also now averaging more than 1 assist per game for his career.

636 assists in 635 career games.

Well it looks like McDavid is going to cruise to 100 assists and become only the 4th player in history to achieve that mark.

As much as I've ragged on his play this season, the fact that McDavid at 50%-75% health with an obvious core injury and inability to shoot/handle the puck is matching career seasons from Kucherov and MacKinnon is absolutely insane and yet another indicator of just how far ahead of the rest of the pack he is. There really is no comparison to be made.

If he'd been healthy this year, there's no doubt he would've matched or eclipsed his legendary season a year ago. Guessing he ends up around 140ish points.
