Yeah this. But there are enough games I wouldn't be stunned if McDavid pulled off a late upset. His scoring has been pretty top class last 20 or so games so yeah. Kucherov just needs one 8-10 game dry streak.
He's definitely been better since Knoblaugh joined but he has slowed down a little bit recently. I still won't count him out but it's gonna be a tough challenge for him

Halfway through the Avs game and MacKinnon has already responded to last night with a hat trick of his own.
This is one of the best scoring races we've seen in a while tbh

Wait until the Avs actually have a 2nd line and will create more chances for Mac.

I actually think it’s the opposite.
Mackinnon’s pace without Kadri is a lot better than when the Avs had him (1.62 to 1.35) Of course it’s better for the team to have more depth but individually (especially for these top guys) I think they benefit from less depth just because they’re leaned on to do more.

Pretty sure this is case for Kuch as well but feel free to correct me if that’s not the case

It is going to be a tight race

Should be Kucherov or Mackinnon. Nobody else is it this year

MacKinnon has 26 goals and 47 assists for 73 points in his past 38 games (1.921 PPG).

If he plays at his pace from last season for the remaining 34 games (1.563 PPG), he’ll finish with 135 points.
Shows you how good McDavid has been. Something is off with him this year. He refuses to shoot. Playing much better defensively, but I would say from a pure offense POV, this is the worst McDavid has looked since his rookie year

Guy is still on pace for 120 points lol

McDavid has looked fine the last several games, he has been incredibly snakebitten for getting points. His teammates are finishing like 1 in every 10 dangerous scoring chances he sets them up with. Plus he's had at least 3 points in the last 8 games taken back from reviews. He looks nowhere near his rookie year self, but you are right that he is not shooting. He finally scored a nice goal with a deceptive shot the other night and of course it's offside. The Oilers are also somehow dead last in the league in 5v4 powerplay minutes this season despite having the most dangerous player in modern history on their roster. The refs seem to officiate Oiler games like playoff games where nothing except the most obvious things get called, and then they will let the next several things slide after 1 team get's a powerplay. I watch every Canuck game and every Oiler game and the reffing is not even close to the same (I am a Canuck fan), McDavid has to get mugged to draw a penalty.

Despite all that he still has 44 points in the last 25 games since he has been healthy, which is 1.76 / game which is right on par with his averages from the past 3-4 years.

Seems like every time Mackinnon catches up, Kucherov takes it personally and goes off for 4+ points. Unreal season for him.

One of the things that makes Kuch great. He takes everything personally and is probably the most driven player in the league. He could have a five-point night and his team win in a blowout and he’ll still be pissed about the opportunities he failed to capitalize on and the plays he didn’t make. He’s gotten a lot better as he’s matured at not making his emotions as obvious, but he demands perfection from himself and expects himself to be the best player in the league, every single night. As a fan you love to see it, especially when he’s on your team.

Sounds like a lot of excuses to diminish Kucherov's and MacKinnon's seasons.

McDavid has been at a 1.44 PPG since he missed two games.
