It won’t be more impressive because he still won’t outscore McDavid this season. McDavid has way better second half’s than Kucherov and he still has like 5 games in hand.
Mcdavid needs to get the show on the road then. We've all been hearing this for 2 months and yet here we are with the biggest gap with 16. That is not erased by 5 games
1.70 vs 1.51. The truth is mcdavid is getting dominated plain and simple

I think Connor will take the wins but the Art Ross race will be interesting between Mack and Kuch and there are alot of interesting races this year and the goal scoring of Matthews will get interesting as well.

I hope it’s a race between Kuch and Mack so Oiler fans can watch Avs and Tampa fans rip into each other finally.
To be honest some of the things McDavid is doing right now is more impressive then anything he has ever done in his career. A lot of his points lately are at the most important times in games. In the Leafs game the way he grinded off the boards and fought to get to the front of the net like he was Ryan Smyth in game seven of the Cup finals. He barely even celebrates goals and his hatred of losing is at a level I have not seen from a player in a long time.

So the Toews intangibles are beginning at the same time they did for Crosby when he stopped winning scoring titles? :sarcasm:

8 assists his last 3 games. Dude is hardcore carrying the Lightning this year.

Welcome to the land of "there's a bit more nuance to the NHL than regular season point totals"

Nice of you to join us after all these years.

A player who gets 1 assist every game is top 10 all time? lol.

Funny how everyone pumps up McDavid when he’s gotten out scored by Draisatl and now Kucherov TWICE handily. Even mackinnon is out scoring him (and he also has a Stanley cup don’t forget)

Gonna be 5/8 soon. Close to 50% - not sure that’s “generational”

Welcome back after 13 months of hiding that famously started because your assurance that McDavid wouldn't drop 150 points was dead wrong. Nothing like a little fear to make a paper man crumble.

He's one of 6 players ever who have won at least 5 Art Rosses. One more ties him with Howe and Lemieux, only trailing Gretzky.

He's one of 9 players ever who have won at least 3 Harts. One more ties him with Shore, trailing only Gretzky and Howe.

He's one of 3 players ever who have won at least 4 Lindsays/Pearsons (while acknowledging it's only been handed out since 1970-1971). One more ties him with Gretzky for most ever.

I know it's your shtick, but try and let that sink in.

For reference Malkin + Crosby + Ovi have 5 Art Ross total in their cumulative 50+ years in NHL.

Here's the incoming argument:

"Yeah, but they had to compete against each other for the Art Ross."

2007-2008 and 2008-2009 are the only seasons where any were effected by the other, and it was only between Ovechkin and Malkin.

But everyone who doesn’t have a hate for Crosby realizes he would’ve had 3 more in his age 23-25 seasons. Has nothing to do with the competition.

2008 Crosby would have been 1st or 2nd in the ross race his ppg after coming back from injury was 2nd in the league that year.

Mcdavid definately is ahead of Crosby but Crosby is the greatest player from Lemieux to Mcdavids time around 2018

Mcdavid will end 3rd to 5th, crosby at best 6th at lowest 9th or 10th

Absolutely. It's a shame that some feel that they can't just appreciate how good these guys are and instead have to put someone else down to elevate their favorite player.

That's not even including 07/08 (was tied for the league lead before injury, finished a hair behind Ovechkin in ppg, it would have been a hell of a race for the scoring title imo.)

14/15 (Yes it was a disappointing year for him, but he still finished 1st in ppg while missing 5 games)

16/17 Not saying it was very likely as McDavid did finish with the higher ppg, but they were tied at 80 points with 10 games remaining. If Crosby doesn't miss the first 6 games and was ahead by anywhere from 4-10 points instead, does he and his teammates make a concerted effort to try and make sure he holds on to that lead? If he doesn't but finishes within 2-3 points of McDavid with 15+ more goals does he steal the Lindsay? Maybe not but at the very least we missed out on what should have been a very exciting battle for the scoring title that year. Credit to McDavid though for turning it up a notch and running away with it.

Crosby's issue was always managing to stay on the ice and playing at least 80 games. Unless it's a year where one guy is running away with it, you really can't afford to miss more than 4-5 games if you want to win the Art Ross. That's one thing about McDavid that is really impressive to me is that for guy who plays such a high speed game, constantly attacking defenders head on and driving the net that he manages to play 80+ games year in and year out.

Im rooting for Kuch like crazy, and think McD gets too much press, but cmon boys, lets keep this half season in perspective.

Here, I will give everyone something to disagree together on - McDavid IS the same level as Gretzky. The reason he cant win endless Art Rosses, and also why his wins are much closer than Wayne's is this: Kucherov, Draisaitl and MacKinnon are considerably better than Bossy, Trottier, Stastny and Savard. Matthews is probably a bit better, too, and better at scoring than everyone on that list except Wayne.
