So, if you believe that NHL writers generally "go out of their way to do the dumbest thing possible," why would you out any value in a trophy decided by them?
I put the Pearson above it. Not sure why you would want to defend the writers. These are the ones that voted Ovechkin onto the year end all star team as both left and right wing. Theodore won the Hart because a Montreal writer left Iginla off the ballot.

Its a shame that the trophies are decided by people like this.

Alright, so if McDavid can play the rest of the season at last year's pace, he'll wind up with 141 points. If Kucherov and MacKinnon keep current pace, they'll wind up with 134 and 132, respectively. That would produce a wacky Hart vote for sure.
Then you factor in Edmontons record during injury and healthy and it’s a no brainer who’s is most valuable to his team.

McDavid won’t get bonus points for being injured. We don’t know what the Lightning or Avs would look like without Kuch or Mack. That can’t be held against them.

Laughing at the thought that McDavid is carrying a bad Oilers team when in reality the team underperformed along with Connor to start the year. Only now are they playing to their capabilities. McDavid doesn’t get any extra credit for this Oilers team making the playoffs when they were one of the Stanley Cup favorites entering the year.

I gotta hand it to Kuch

When McDavid started turning it on, I was sure Kuch would be left in the dust. But he's maintained a pretty healthy 10 point lead for most of that time (i get there's a few extra games Kuch has played) but him and MacK are keeping pace with SuperNova Mcdavid.

All 3 are absolutely beauty players.

BTW I'm a McD homer, but unless the Lightning make the playoffs, I think MacK wins his first Hart.

Kucherov won't even get a nom if we don't get into the playoffs. And it doesn't look like we're getting into the playoffs.

There's the possibility of an exciting scoring race this season, especially if Kucherov, MacKinnon, and McDavid all be healthy the rest of the way. Kucherov might be as healthy as he's been since his scoring title five seasons ago.

LOL, this coming from an Edmonton fan?
Yea I would hope you see the tongue in cheek spirit based on all the bullshit comments about 97 last year.

Yes, powerplay merchant who is tied for 2nd in the league in even strength points!
Funny that you think anyone gives a shit when the narrative is already drawn.

Hope you two had this same energy for McDavid last year.

Lol Kucherov has the 3rd best +/- on the team of any of the full-timers. His linemates are -10 and -13.

Guys it's sarcasm. These boards were using those same arguments against McDavid previously to downplay his accomplishments.

Kucherov is having an incredible season.

This is a myth.

First, ballots were not disclosed at the time, so unless a voter released that (and not many did), there is no way to confirm. And secondly, Iginla actually had more voters than Theodore: 61 to 58. Had those 3 voters added Theodore, he would have won without being tied.
