The amazing thing about Kucherov this year is he has 19 more points (despite missing a game) than the next highest on his team and has been in on 48.6% of Tampa's goals.

The only other players I can think of that are close:

Pastrnak - 16 points up on the next Bruin and in on 44.3% of Boston's goals.
Panarin - 15 Points up on next Ranger and in on 42.5% of NYR's goals

Another Hart and Ross would look really good on his career accomplishments, still early for sure. But he is having a great season. On pace to break 130 points, he is doing his part to make it a race. You love to see it.

17 goals and 29 assists for 46 points in his past 23 games.

Certainly going a long way towards debunking the theory that he collected was only able to collect 128 points on a stacked squad scoring 320+ goals. Kucherov is in on half their goals this year, a huge difference from the 39.4% he factored in on in 2018-2019. Not that the Lightning are still not a great team, regardless of the record, but this season is much more impressive to me.

The impact another win would do for his personal legacy is monumental.

He's gonna be hard for anyone to catch if he keeps this up. I thought he'd hit some sort of slump that just about everyone hits.

I know 30 isn’t exactly old but how many 30 year old have scored at this rate historically or been in a clear lead for points like this? Not even sure if McDavid catches him now the way he’s going.

In terms of players who would go on to be the winners, it would have to be the same pair as one of Kucherov’s other accomplishments (back to back 30+ point playoff campaigns): Gretzky and Lemieux.

Gretzky in 1990-1991 at age 30 and Lemieux in 1995-1996 at age 30 are the only examples that spring to mind over the last half century (since Esposito in 1973-1974).

That being said, MacKinnon, with his hat trick in progress tonight, is only 6 points behind him with a game in hand, and while they won’t be made up until all the way by the end of March, McDavid still has 4 games in hand.

Far from over.

Edit: After adding another goal and an assist, MacKinnon is just 4 points back with a game in hand.

Kucherov is running hot right now. His PPG won't hold. McDavid's PPG should be higher but his teammates finish like 1 in every 10 of his dime setups.

Of the top 10 in scoring now, it is between Kucherov, MacKinnon and McDavid. Don't think anyone else is very likely to win it.

Mcdavid gonna finish third in scoring at 27. Pretty putrid wouldn't you say @Video Nasty ?

Also all this Mario and Wayne talk. As if they would be going into the Christmas break trailing frigging JT Miller in the scoring race. Let's calm down oilers bois
