Kucherov being a defensive liability compared with the other candidates may come back to haunt him come voting time if point totals are close. Not often you get a Hart trophy winner who can barely break a 50% goal differential 5v5. Not being a center hurts him too.

This thing is still up in the air for MVP. Fun race. You almost feel he has to win the AR to have a chance though.

Not in a million years will they give a Russian a MVP trophy at the moment. Kucherov could have 170 points and he wouldn`t get it.

Dam , i was sure everyone would consider what kuch is doing on tampa more impressive than Mack or McDavid, hedman and vasy were awful to start the season , he is 51 points ahead of Point....51!!!
Someone posted a “next 5” on the roster comparison instead if second place, found it interesting.

Also Point currently has 43 goals it isnt some huge “gotcha” that Kuch only plays with Point.

Whoever wins the Hart, the other two fanbases will rightfully argue they deserved it. Only one trophy.

Yeah im not dissing point at all , point is a great player , its just crazy that he's leaping a great ppg+ player like point by 50. Tampa does have a few 70 point guys so i can see how the *next 5* way of looking at it could paint a better picture than just second on team

No it means McDavid sucks generating on the PP this year.
Nope. That’s Mackinnon. Has over 100 mins more on the PP and only 1 PPP more than 97. Has 50 mins more than Kuch and 6 points less than him.

Connor has the highest PPP/60 out of the three.

He's winning over McDavid because he has been better this year, that's it.
And higher PP time signals that his team has relied on him more as well.
Yea because the team stinks. If McDavids team stunk he’d be getting non stop PP minutes too.
Because, according to your logic, it explains why McDavid won in other years.
Correct. PPP are important to winning an Art Ross. And this year McDavids time has been diminished which is letting Kucherov take over. McDavid still has the highest PPP/60 out of the three.

Mack and Kuch should be glad that Knoblauch is giving them a chance this year. It could have been another slaughter.

I think Mcdavid has accepted defeat in the Art Ross race. Last night against the Flames he didn’t go out when they pulled their goalie.

This sort of weird-ass player nationalism doesn't really exist for the average Canadian hockey fan. The only time Canadians specifically care about Canadian players is when they're playing for Team Canada. Your post is pure projection.
Okay so explain how my examples came to be. Has cale makar really been so mucn greater than fox over the years? Even now some want to give Makar a Norris over hudges who is American if I am not mistaken. People are going balistic in this very thread over kusherov and bring it down to him as a Person to discredit him and majority would love to see mackinnon get his "due" I wonder if it's because he's Canadian? Nobody care about international tournament those times were finished ten years ago. People sit and complain about kusherov padding stats but forgot like more than half of mcjesus points came from pp last season , if there is anyone in the league that has padded over the year its that guy.

I forgot Malkin is not a top 100 player accordingly to Canadian sports news.

As someone who watches your team every chance I get I agree 100%. And that’s without even looking at the adversity just the powerplay figures. The 11 games he played hurt with only 8 points is the other thing I’ve thought about. If he just plays at his average from the last 5 seasons (1.71) for those 11 games he has 141 in 74 right now. 145 in 76 if he never goes down at all according to just filling in with his last 5 year average (a safe bet). Could have had a crack at 160 this year. I think he does it before age 31.

Eh they all got injured or played through injuries at some point if the season. Kuch missed a game and only had 1 point in the 2 games after. He’d have 140+ points now if he wasn’t injured and scored at his average pace. See, we could play that game for all three of them. None of them missed big chunks of games so it’s been a pretty fair race so far.

No you are right what happens happens. I’m not saying this to diminish Kucherov. Whoever wins the race will deserve it. The only reason I brought it up is that of the current top end talent the only player that has proven capable of being in the 160-170 range over 82 consecutive games (or for large chunks of a season) is McDavid. The 8 points in 11 games is what took that possibility away for this particular season. Kucherov is having the third best per game season of the cap era so I’m not knocking him in the slightest.

Kucherov and Point are very much Batman and Robin. The argument for Kucherov is mainly based on Point just having an "off" year before turning it around at the first of last month.

As for "next 5..." I mean, that feels kind of arbitrary. Why not next 10? Why not just the rest of the team? And then you get Kucherov in on half of TB's goals. I get that MacKinnon isn't all that far behind, but he is significantly behind, and it's not hard to argue that each TB needed those goals more, given we had a goalie who couldn't keep the other team under 3 for most of the year.
