It would be a better year than 2023 Mcdavid

Unlikely he hits that though
I disagree there. It would be by far the second best 70-82 game season of the salary cap era but it would still trail 2023 McDavid because of the 64 goals and leading outright in goals assists and points. As of this moment this is the second best season of the cap era (third if you count 2021 McDavid). I didn’t think he could reach this high of a level but he has. I’m frankly blown away and I love the talent we have in the league now.

Yeah I'm not sure why Kucherov's season would be better. I guess the gap to 2nd best point producer stat would be compelling but other than that McDavid's 153 was better. What really makes a difference is season is the level of competition: without the trio pushing each other to new heights I really don't think Kucherov would've cracked 130.

So you’re saying you’re perfectly capable of reading, but that rather than either reading a simple three-paragraph post and replying to it, or simply ignoring the post and going on about your day, you chose to spend your time mocking its length and ignoring the argument within. And you think this behavior merits a serious response from me, rather than a laughing dismissal of the value of your posts and indeed, of you as a person entirely?

I’ve seen enough of you to know that there is no value in my seeing any more. Goodbye sir.

I think your point about the trio pushing each other has a lot of merit to it. I agree completely. I think the evidence of that is looking at the stats since the day this thread was created (which is also when McDavid recovered fully).

Since November 24 2023 we have McDavid at 112 in 57 GP (1.97), Kucherov with 107 in 57 (1.88) and MacKinnon at 108 in 59 (1.83). 161, 154 and 150 82 game paces respectively for 70% of an 82 game season. Prior to that date Kuch was at 1.50, Mack 1.28 and McDavid 1.00 (worst of his career). They clearly all turned it up to their career best level and it has been a joy to watch.

McDavid has had a stretch of nearly 100 consecutive games playoff and regular season at exactly 2 points per game (late 2022, 22 playoffs and 2023) so I believe he is capable of a season in the 160s in his career. He’s proven he is more than capable. His pace since Nov 24 shows what this year could have been with a better start and no injury. While that’s exciting to think about I’m blown away by Kucherov and MacKinnon. They aren’t McDavid but 140 points is absurd in this current league and I’m so happy as a fan to see the top end talent flourish. It has been since Lemieux and Jagr that I saw players that can hit this level offensively. While McDavid isn’t Lemieux he is the closest thing we have seen since and while Mack and Kuch aren’t Jagr they are doing their best to resemble his peak season production this year. Can’t ask for more as fans.

welllll, maybe because his even strength points are right there with the other two.

there certainly IS a strong movement towards him being an empty net merchant in this very thread, so, i dont think he is being protected or anything.

Kuch playing 4D chess with the other chimps. When he wake up in the morning he is barely sore while yall go to sleep taking acetaminophen to relieve your headache from the apparent anger. It's beautiful.

I haven't watched enough of either player that closely to say one way or another but my first thought was that Kuch supporters are going to point to Rantanen having his best statistical season but at the same time he often gets underrated in every mian board discussion except when used to bolster Mack in his comp to Kuch.

Rantanen is almost certainly going to be a HHOFer and Point probably not due more to injuries than anything else mind you.
Rantanen doesn't have another shooter like STamkos to share shots with either. Both PPS are great in their own way.
The PP runs through Kuch and Hedman. Stamkos and Point are trigger guys. Cirelli , Hagel, and Duclair aren't too shabby either. Duclair really made our top 6 more dangerous because we got 5/6 guys that are scoring threats with their shot and Cirelli is really good two-way center with limited offense ceiling, but has good instincts to go with a high hockey iq. All I can say is we are witnessing a season for the books. We got so many HOF high end talented players now days . I can't recall another season since the lockout when scoring started to go down we had 30 or more players at PPG or almost PPG levels. WE already have ten 40goal scorers this season. We should see at least ten players top 100 points and possibly 15.
So many good players on all the rosters.
Lightning Top 10 scorers
Lightning have the most balanced top 6.

Colorado Top 10 scorers
Colorado is very top heavy.

I hate seeing Drouin look like a top 6 forward.
EDM top 10 scorers

These guys all play with some good players but Kucherov is the only one without a 1a/1b 100 point player. Any center that can turn Hyman into a 50 goal scorer is impressive as f***.

Feels like people are angry that Russian is winning it over two Canadians.
McDavid is current golden boy of this generation of NHL players. I think people just want to see him excel at everything and accumulates awards just cause. Don't see how it has anything to do with ethnicity since Ovechkin is really liked around here.

Greatness respects greatness. Reminds me of the Crosby era.

Damn just saw that Kuch is 8th in PPTOI/GP and McDavid is 53rd. Probably helps him winning the race.

I hope he wins it. I really want McDavid to miss out on all the awards.
lol hating a player in a completely different conference is hilarious

Those people dislike the Oilers so their narrative has changed now.

Well I hope McDavid doesn't win, because of him I'm dying inside and yet another Ross win for him will torment me even more.

It's bad enough he's better than my beloved Crosby ever has been, and I'm still trying to reconcile that.

McDavid not winning the Ross will help me sleep better maybe for a couple nights. I need that.

Nope. Im a fan of Ovie. Was a huge fan of Pavel Bure, fan of Kovalchuk and Federov. Kuch is just a punk and thats why he gets hate.

Im Canadian and I despise McDavid. Little positive emotion, virtue signaler, zombie etc

I hope McDavid and Kuch lose to Nate

if it was up to me I'd give Hart to all 3 in a three way tie

McJesus, Mack and Kuch

IMO all 3 have been unreal.

For the Art-Ross let the best man win. Its been way too long since there's been such a race for

Art-Ross
Hart
Presidents Trophy

Pretty unreal regular season. Hopefully playoffs are as or even more exciting. Can't wait!!!
