Kucherov now has 3 of the top 6 scoring seasons by a Russian player in history (1, 2, and 6), and has the top 3 assist seasons by a Russian player in history. He's the only Russian born player to top 80 assists and he's done it three times now (90+, 87, 83).

I think he is pretty clearly the best Russian playmaker in history, and has a pretty good case for the best playmaking winger of all time too.

Nice 2-minute shift out there with the empty net in a 6-4 game vs MTL

What a shame this is how the Art Ross will get decided.

For everyone complaining about empty net points for Kucherov. Here's how each of Mackinnon, Kucherov and McDavid perform against the best vs worst teams.

I wish these stats could somehow take into account how the team is playing at the time though rather than where they end up. Playing Edmonton at the start of the year or LA in mid season was quite a bit different than playing them in other points in the year for example.

Serious question: When was the last Art Ross race that was this good?

The three premiere scorers in the league just slugging it out until the end. I can't think of a better race than this one. We're in the final weeks of the season and any of these 3 can still take it, and, IMO, they are quite clearly the 3 best scorers in the league long-term.

It’s been an amazing year. It’s rare that all 3 are relatively healthy for the year as well.
And Matthews having a year to remember for the Rocket as well.

Ah yes, this again. This means nothing as it doesn't account for how the team is playing at the time of their games played. For example: points gathered against the Oilers at the beginning of the year when they were struggling heavily are valued the same as points gathered against them during their undefeated streak.

It means something. It’s not a definitive statement but it is something to take into account. Just like not all empty net goals are meaningless.
