It's a bit premature to annoint a winner. Watch Kucherov or MacKinnon answer with a 5pt game.

McDavid to 125 points in 70 games. It's too bad the injury early on, even just without the missed games he'd have made a run at a consecutive 150 point season. With a fully healthy year he'd maybe have broken 2.00 points per game.
Its not about anointing a winner its about who has the best odds and right now that McDavid. Sits 1 point ahead of Kucherov with equal games remaining and 2 ahead of Mackinnon with a game in hand on Mack.

He's definitely one of the all time greats but there's some really good wingers to have played the game. If he can maintain this for another 4-5 years I can see an argument, as much as I cant stand the guy he's an absolute wizard with the puck. Playmaking, shooting, handles he does it all. I wouldn't put him above Jagr or Ovechkin but I wouldn't argue against anyone saying he's up there.
5 more years of this production and he enters top 15 all time conversation 2 cups and Smythe worthy runs doesn't seem like McDavid is gonna let him have a Ross stoll a chance at the Hart though

Getting word from around the league that McSelfish blatantly looked (and flipped) off Darnell Nurse on the bench when he scored that goal. Looks like the Captain has once again started caring more about individual stats than setting up his teammates for goals.
TSN analysts have alerted me to some more information. Apparently McSelfish was told by his coach to stay in the d zone on that play but he decided not to listen. Very disturbing

Plus the rate he's scoring is crazy, and had to outpace the others by a lot to get here.

McDavid is a tier above the rest. If it werent for the injury he played with at the start this wouldn't even be debatable

MacKinnon has been overrated as hell up until the last few years. And even then it took the dude a decade playing in the league to finally hit 100 points in a season. And when they won the cup he wasn't even close to the best player. Makar was. He won the Conn Smythe. Without him, the Avs don't win that year and MacKinnon is still stuck in mediocrity. His trophy cabinet only has a cup, lady byng and a calder. That's it. Yes he's having a good season, finally but geez. People act like this guy has been top of the league every season winning tons of awards. He hasn't.
It's more about his play and how he is an unstoppable force at times akin to ovi he could have hit 100 if it wasn't for missed games and covid but he is definitely a top 5 player in the league

Title thread is no longer relevant and the race appears to be over unless McDavid gets hit by a bus before the end of the season. Will be interesting to see who wins the Hart this year

Kucherov is easily a top 15 all time winger already.

109 points in his past 54 games (2.02 PPG). 65 in his past 29 (2.24 PPG).

That’s why the games are played folks.

As I said, I expect Kucherov and MacKinnon to each add at least a couple of points (MacKinnon actually just got to #124), but I repeat, this guy made up a 22 point deficit in those 29 games while the two players ahead of him averaged 1.64 and 1.83 PPG, and is actually sitting ahead of them at this very moment.

McDavid shouldn't even be in the race but that's why he's the best player on the planet. The ridiculous rate he has had to score at the last 60 games or so to catch up is unreal.

I think he’s was 22 points behind about 30 games or so ago, making up that gap on elite producers is insane. The media may give mackinnon the voter fatigue but I think the players still vote Mcdavid for the Lindsay

Yeah I am not sure. I have been saying for the longest time that Mackinnon deserves the Hart but to see the comeback both the Oilers and McDavid have done since the start of the season is tough to ignore as well.

Oops meant player but he is gonna be a top 5 winger maybe top 3
This is an insane overreaction. It would take a change in career trajectory.

Top wingers by top 3 in Hart

Howe - 12
Hull - 8
Jagr - 6
Ovechkin - 5
Richard - 5
Lafleur- 4

Kucherov is about to get his second. This isn't getting into guys like Cook or Makarov or Kharlamov who spent their primes out of the NHL. Or Lindsay or Bossy who were disadvantaged in Hart voting.

I think Kucherov will be in the top 15 at the end of the season for wingers. I think he can hit the 10ish spot.

But the top 5-7 is so strong Kucherov would need to hit another gear to get there.
