I think you should prepare to be disappointed if you expect Dach to take the 1C spot away from Suzuki. I don’t see that as being a realistic possibility. I like Dach, but he’s not as good as Suzuki and I don’t think he can be with that shot.
I found it strange that some people felt Dach was going to displace Nick Suzuki as our 1C as early as this season.
He's a couple of seasons out experience wise and he has yet to show he can remain healthy long enough to take on that level of competition.
I mean a lot of people were salivating not too long ago about how good he's going to be with Caufield and Slaf next season.
I get it they think he's flashier but the reality is Nick Suzuki is the better player and Captain and will always get preferential line mates.
Kirby Dach would need to put in two (full) seasons of dominant hockey before even being considered for the number 1 spot.
I think Slaf will become a permanent fixture on that right side and any tweaking will involve Caufield/Roy/Newhook.

My gut feeling is Joshua Roy may end up being the ideal left winger for our top line and eventually help solidify both ends of the rink.

Ok.... but just imagine for a moment you are wrong (and it is still a possibility), just imagine what it would mean for this team if Dach manage to steal that 1C, what a 1-2 punch it would be then.

Kid’s ability to score on tight-angle shots is nuts. I think he’s had like 3 or 4 of those just this year. Doing it on a one-timer like that is next level.
He has such a wicked shot; every time the D give him the blue line I’m sure his wrister is going in.

Already as a child, you could observe how perfect Suzukis head proportions were. Square enough to be a star in the NHL, but not enough to have that beatable ass face like Tkachuk or Stutzle. Almost Crosby like, but Sid had a bit more length and width. The perfect specimen remains Lemieux though, who had that square with round edges combination to put him over the top. To a lesser extend there was Lindros, but if you look closely, the neck length was a warning sign. Always be wary of the long necks.

So should the Habs be hiring you as a young face scout? :dunno:

"Never mind about the skating right now Kent look at that facial structure"

Suzuki is an exceptional center in all three zones. As soon as the Habs stop relying on one line, Slick Nik's stats will increase exponentially.

If I'm not mistaken there was a large habs section a bit higher like 'double letter red section of bell center'
And when he scored he saw them all with their hands up and gestured 'gimmie that noise baby'
That’s pretty cool. Fans must have appreciated that - esp since he’s usually low-key with his cellys.

I hope Dach has the internal drive to prove he is the #1 guy. I hope deep down, he looks at Suzuki with jealous and envy. I hope he thinks to himself, if it wasn't for my injuries, that would be my spot. I think he does. It will be fun to watch him next year come back with fire and determination.

Yeah I've talked about his accuracy more than once it's next level for sure. I can't think of anyone else on our team who has rung more iron.
Newhook has a few in recent games and had some earlier in the season his ratio would have him a close second I think.

We all do and more importantly that we find enough top end talent to surround them both if he does.
Neither will be that 100 point plus player but a couple of 80's or 90's would be awesome.

wow is that really Suzuki in the Habs jersey as an infant?

I was intrigued as well, so I looked it up

this what came up:

"A childhood photo of NHL star Nick Suzuki, who got his start playing for the Tyke Canadiens in Lambeth Minor Hockey and now is the captain of the Montreal Canadiens. (Source: Amanda Suzuki)"

I mean, on a very good team I see Suzuki flirting with 100, while being a defensive force. Like Barkov.

He is one of the best shooter in the league. Im sure that if he started volume shooting he'd be a 40g scorer.

Lambeth Minor around that time named their teams after NHL teams. There were always, the Bruins, Leafs, Habs and Sharks.

I coached my kids a few years after Nick would have been there. My kids were always on the Habs too!

Would be awesome. I’m not wrong though, Dach hasn’t shown enough to be considered an ideal number 2 yet, let along number 1. Like Rapala says, that’s at least 2-3 seasons away even in the unlikely event it were to happen.

I saw online that Suzuki is the fastest to reach 60 pts for the Habs in more than a decade, last one was a guy named Plekanec or something.

Thats some solid company there!

Good that Suzuki has done it so quickly. Sad that the last guy to do this was Plekanec. I have high hopes that our scorers are going to blow away what we've done since the early 90s. We finally look like we're going to put together two solid lines. Has to be like 30 years since we had that.

Yeah I have no idea who will be better but maybe Suzuki could be really awesome AND Dach could still be better lol. Maybe we're just allowed to have nice things again.

Both have tremendous potential. If Dach stays healthy I think we're in fantastic shape up the middle.
