He's taken his game on the PP to a whole new level. You can genuinely play him at any position. Keep Hoffman on the right wall and have Suzuki play somewhere else.

I always liked Nick better on the left side. He can still make passes from there. But him being open for a one timer allows him to be more of a shooting threat and to do one touch passes to move the puck quickly.

Wideman also moves the puck well from the point. If he can't hack it 5 on 5, it's worth considering him at wing on the 4th line 5 on 5, and then on the pp. Or if Belzile and Pazetta are doing more than Armia and Lehkonen, worth taking out one of the Finns.

Suzuki-Hoffman
Drouin-Caufield could two nice half wall duos of the 2 pp units.

If he keeps this up, he’s got to play for Canada at the Olympics. I know they have a lot of centres, but I feel he can play the role of a two-way RW.

I hope we do the right thing and get him some elite talent to play with...

A top-15 winger & PMD.... so that we can fully benefit from, and leverage his immense talent vs force him to carry the load by himself, surrounded by B level talent, as he is now.

On a team as low scoring as the Habs Suzuki is really having a "next step" kind of start to this year.

For example, he's contributed a goal or assist on 45% of the Habs goals this year. That's incredibly high. For context, here's some others.

McDavid: 23/46 = 50%
Ovechkin: 21/42 = 50%
Suzuki: 13/29 = 45%
Panarin: 13/33 = 39%
Marner: 13/36 = 36%
Aho: 12/41 = 29%
Barkov: 14/52 = 27%
I think a stint in Laval might be in order.

I don't think so. Way too many good forwards.

Huberdeau-McDavid-Mackinnon
Marchand-Crosby-Bergeron
Coutrier-Oreilly-Stone
Point-Barzal-Marner
Tavares

Plus Stamkos and Scheifle (though I don't know why he hasn't been producing this year).

Dark horse maybe but he has a chance for sure.
Can't say I've ever heard his name by any of the insiders doing a long list of potential players for team Canada. Now that the short list is coming due, is even more unlikely. But there's always a chance I guess.

Great young player, just not his time. Next Olympics is more likely

Next Olympics. He will be there at 26, 30 and 34 yo so no need to rush.

That being said, maybe you take him as a reserve player and give him the opportunity to live the experience and be surronded by the bests.

Also, if you watched last night's game, and Markstrom chipping at Nick for trying to go behind him, only for the young lad to pull this off just a few minutes later. :thumbu:

He's on the long 55 man list, there's a story today on Sportsnet that says luongo called him in the summer
