Thank you for posting this premature and reactionary thread, which lead to our two best defensive games of the year.I'm sticking my neck out on this one, but it no longer makes sense that TOR is keeping Robertson out of the line up. I think he's only in and out for the purposes of being showcased.
Dubas has to improve the defense of this team is serious about contending. It really looks like Muzzin might be done. I felt like Kyle's UFA signings of Benn and Mete were a stop gap for a proper defensman who can play in the top 4.
Robertson might be their best trade chip at the moment. Can he fetch a top 4D alone? I'm not sure. Kyle can add on if he feels the urgency to replace Muzzin.
Does your non-contending team have a #3-4 D-man with a bit of term?
What's Robertson worth to you?
Reasonable post. He doesn't have the value to go 1 for 1 for a top 4 with term. Centrepiece for a top 4 rental sure. Similar aged similar pedigree / potential/ growth track young d man sure. But not the proven thing. He could probably bring back a guy with potential to be a top 4 d but no one is trading an established player for a guy who is in D +4 for potential. Also, if he is that good he should be able to prove it. Also staying healthy is very important no one wants to trade for a guy who hasn’t proven it in nhl because of injuries. Also top 4 d are more valuable and rare than top 6 wingers.
He probably wouldn’t have been considered proven then, and teams would wait till he’s played a whole season before trading a top 4 d for him. They would trade a defenceman with a similar record, potential, value to him but they wouldn’t trade someone proven until his brother had played more games. That or they would ask for more insurance like a 2nd in case he didn’t work out the way he has.The D+4 shtick is kind of cute, making it sound like being less than 2 months removed from turning 21 means he's over the hill as a prospect or something.
Using this D+4 timeline and applying it to his brother, he would have been about 15 games into his career at the same time. Was he considered not valuable then?

The Canes announced they wouldn’t trade a 1st for a rental, they were in on Chariot if you want a spaghetti string theory.

Is that a forums version of I know you are, but what am I? Apologies if you are actually a kid participating on here. You're reactionary.
How am I supposed to react to a accusatory post like that?Is that a forums version of I know you are, but what am I? Apologies if you are actually a kid participating on here.
Ask and ye shall receive:
Still delusional
Oh the irony….Comparing the logic, not the players. Crazy I still have to explain this. Being scratched doesn't make someone a bad player. Not sure why this is so difficult for some people to understand.
No reference to any player in your link.
Don’t see the rangers going for thatI already know this won't go well, so no way I was making a proposal thread. (realize the original ask was for a Dman)
But , wondering the value on a Robertson for Laf deal? Pick added if needed.
Change of scenery and direct path to top6 LW in Toronto.
Kerfoot - Matthews - Nylander
Lafreniere - Tavares - Marner
Bunting - Engvall - Jarnkrok
Aston-reese - Kampf - Malgin
Fair. Wasn't sure exactly where they were at with Lafreniere...and seriously wasn't trying to overvalue Robertson.Don’t see the rangers going for that

He’s got to maintain both health and production for several months before he’s a valuable trade asset.how many of you saying he doesn't fetch a top 4 D have actually seen him play ?
Fair enough, let's check back in 3 months and see how many posters are willing to give up their #4 D man for himHe’s got to maintain both health and production for several months before he’s a valuable trade asset.
It will depend on if he’s still in the lineup as a regular and producting.Fair enough, let's check back in 3 months and see how many posters are willing to give up their #4 D man for him

I’m more concerned about the health than the production. He’s not the biggest dude and his bravery puts him in harms way a bit.
He’s a little like that Kase guy. Solid and skilled player when he’s healthy but his play style leads to some unhealthy outcomes for him.
We’ll see. His brother is a hell of a player for Dallas but Jason is a much bigger dude. Both appear to have the skills and hockey IQ to be top six wingers.
I’m not betting against his skill. He’s got that. He’ll need more defensive acumen but the offensive flair is there.
Preaching to the choir. He’s got higher end skill and good hockey sense.Kase's biggest problem was he'd skate with his head down and lead with his head. I think every head injury he had was his own fault, he'd stick his neck out and lean into guys as he's skating and essentially headbutt a guys shoulder and concuss himself.
Fair if you wanna see more out of him, I've seen quite a bit of him in the AHL and a small sample size in the NHL. I'm pretty comfortable calling him a top 6 winger with top line upside.
Robertson has some of those issues as well. He got trucked Vs Dallas and Winnipeg.Kase's biggest problem was he'd skate with his head down and lead with his head.
