Well, when I say #SELLTHETEAM I don't mean sell half the team or half the teams assets every three months...lol. Now the Icedogs are a group of players that haven't played together...again! I guess we don't learn from our mistakes.

Its just like last season all over again. There is no long term plan in place. The league needs to step in and take over the team. The owner keeps showing us he cannot run this team properly.

I mean... I'm usually pretty tough on the owner and Granted some trades can still happen, but the reality is, we only have 1 new goalie, forward and defenseman joining the team...

Most rebuilding or contending teams see changes bigger than that.

So, two goalies, two forwards (including our captain) and two defensemen. Most useful draft picks traded for are 26 and 27 and 3rd or 4th round. The plan is obvious but i might be dead before it comes to fruition. #SELLTHETEAM

Lavioe has a high education package, that’s why they were so quick to move him. he must be struggling to keep up with payments, he’s been very very active with moving out expenses

7th overall pick will get 4 years of school paid for. But he's Canadian so it won't be more than say 15 grand a year. Not overly expensive

But question - who actually pays that? The league? The last team to have him before school? Is it prorated across the 3 teams he's played for?

Gold package is more than just tuition. Room and board too I believe. I believe who pays depends on the trade agreement. Likely Niagara is not paying anything, otherwise that would defeat the whole purpose of the trade.

I was wondering that about the last couple deals with London because it sure looks like a heres some draft picks to pay out a couple education packages for us..
Both those guys were high picks initially that didn't take long for London to release.

Closer to $30K per year for a gold package

The OHL podcast had an episode about this. The theory is that Niagara is trading US born players to London in order to have London pay the education cost as US born players have US education packages which are more expensive. As compensation, Niagara sends extra draft picks to London. Specifically they were referring to the Humphrey trade and Crane trade where in addition to draft picks, Niagara sent a US player to London in each trade and then London released the player after a handful of games.

I really wish the OHL would step in here. The IceDogs are being so badly managed that it is unfair to the fans. Its also unfair to other teams that London, who has lots of cash, can essentially buy draft picks from Niagara. I am not blaming London as I think any team in their position would accept this offer. But its still unfair to everyone else.

Windsor absorbed a gold package last year, and Sarnia two this season.

#SELLTHETEAM to someone who can afford it. It all started with this owners first draft when he drafted half the North York team with the back half of the draft just to make money.
