Yeah, I am a bit surprised no other team was willing to go as high as 3, 6. I hope he has a good year and a half in the Soo.
The trade is not puzzling though. It was between Castle, Lavoie, Sirrizotti, Agonestelli, and Dann for four RW spots.

Sirrizotti is better than Dann or Agostinelli so yes, I think the trade is puzzling. Plus Sirrizotti plays both wings so that makes this trade even more strange. But I think as others have suggested, he wanted out. But then again, its likely most players want out.

This article has generated a lot of discussion in Niagara:

Q and A with IceDogs owner Darren DeDobbelaer, part two - Q and A with IceDogs owner Darren DeDobbelaer, part two | BP Sports Niagara

In the article, IceDogs owner Darren DeDobbelaer is asked about the rumours that players aren’t being taken care of properly on road trips, if he is concerned that next year's draft picks will refuse to report and why fans should have hope given that the team has had three coaches and are in last place. They also asked him if he was prepared to hire a GM instead of him doing the GM duties and if he was going to be a buyer or seller at the trade deadline, given the team is in last place (spoiler alert - he wants to by a buyer???)

Many fans feel that DeDobbelaer's answers show that he really doesn't understand how OHL teams are suppose to operate.

Some of those awnsers just seem straight confrontational. I dont think he did himself any favors with that one. Seeing how some of the other GMs in the league operate no wonder he has recruiting issues

the treated well on the road is meals. every team feeds kids, Niagara has not been doing that, cost cutting measure. leave for a day trip and would t provide breakfast or dinner. league found out after a high powered agent complained and I believe the league set him straight. pretty well known in the league now. totally bizarre

Yeah it’s not the fans he has to convince that he’s doing things right. It’s the players and agents. These people talk. A PR piece isn’t going to help him there.

It's very difficult to be an IceDogs fan right now. The new owner's main focus appears to be cutting costs. The last time the IceDogs played in Sudbury on Sunday afternoon, the team apparently left St. Catharines at 6:30am for the 2pm game instead of going up the day before and staying in a hotel. During the intermission interview, an IceDogs player mentioned how they had bus legs after the long bus trip. The IceDogs lost 13-2. But at least the owner saved money by not having to pay for a hotel.

What makes this so frustrating is that prior to this season, the IceDogs were normally in the top 4 or 5 in attendance. There was no need to cut costs.

Is any top player going to want to play for the IceDogs?

This needs to change. He should hire a good team around him who will make a good decisions and hold him accountable

it has but only after the league stepped in and threatened fines.

It makes you wonder what kind of hole he dug to acquire the team. He clearly makes more than enough gate to cover the day to day expenses. This means it points more to what sort of loans etc he took out to acquire and how he needs to carry those loans.

His steadfast approach to not rebuild when it is staring him squarely in the face suggests he needs the playoff gate to make it work.

Additionally, his lack of willingness to bring in OHL qualified staff at key positions is also alarming.

To me the alarm bells for this situation are ringing loudly and I imagine the League is none too happy about it but they likely knew it going in and were so steadfast to usher out the Burkes, they were willing to roll the dice in this situation.

What an embarrassing interview. As much as it's fun to make in jest posts about all the trades I sincerely feel bad for this market. This seems like a bigger dumpster fire then Flint was.. If I were Wayne Gretzky I would be trying to get as far away as I can from this as fast as possible or buy him out and hire some people to run this team the right way...

He’s got about 11-’04 born players including 4-1sts, he can rebuild around two ‘07-1st at next years deadline if his roster doesn’t pan out

Oh I understand that but his reputation holds value which will be declining in the hockey world if he's too closely tied to this fiasco.
his rep is already in decline over his off ice politics. ;)
same can be said for Bobby Orr.

oh well... never meet your heroes.

The 07's won't report. I spoke to an agent last Friday and he is telling Niagara not to draft his clients because they won't report. I have to think that is why we drafted many unqualified players from North York last year.

Wasnt the rumor at the time Niagara was getting $ in return for drafting those players? Seems plausible with a cheapskate owner

Hello Dogs fans
Tonight I am reaching out to the broader hockey family and communities not as a London Knights fan, but as a concerned human being. As you know, one of our Knights players died tragically this past Saturday. His friends, family and the community are devastated.
Please consider donating to the GoFundMe page set up by his family to help with the funeral arrangements.
Thank you

Hi again.
Seems the page has been taken down for some reason.
The Knights are checking into it with the family right now. Please stay tuned.

I thought the rumour was disgruntled scouts drafted those players as a "f u" to the GM who was talking shit about them in those texts that got leaked
