Am I missing something or can you not record these? Ie... I have Roku/ESPN+ - is there a way to record the broadcast and watch it later? Or is it just live or nothing?

Right now it’s just live or nothing. To be clear, on NHLtv you never recorded the broadcast either. There was just an option to “Start from Beginning”

I think we’ll get more features when the regular season is going.

Yes, I didn't mention that but verified the above (you can't record). Hopefully you can start a finished game (or game in progress) from the beginning like NHL.tv but it's looking pretty sparse right now.

I expect some bumps moving all of this over to ESPN+. It might be a weird time with it.

The picture was ultra smooth tonight. I think it might have been better than NHLtv.

So, apparently, I can watch last night's televised preseason games on the NHL app. They're "archived".

After the game is complete, it should be available in the On Demand section. If you are starting the game late, you have to pick up the live stream and then rewind the feed to the beginning of the game.

I did this for Sunday’s game and I had to hold my hand out in front of my face to block the score. And then I rewound it back so far that I was watching the 4th quarter of the Knicks game. So it’s not as good as NHL.tv, but still workable.

Yeah this is definitely a step back from NHL.tv as it had the options in settings to "hide scores" and most importantly "start from beginning". Even then though, the hide scores feature was buggy as when the stream started from the beginning, sometimes the score overlay (that NHL.tv provided with the time bar/FF/RW/Play buttons) would show the current score for a couple seconds before dashing out. That was frustrating but not as bad as the out of sync audio on Sunday.

Also it will be interesting to see if tonight's NHL network game will be archived to ESPN+. All games in the past, regardless of network, were archived in NHL.tv, with differing time delays. Hope that feature isn't lost but fear it likely will be.

Yeah, I’m familiar with the score bug when starting the feed from the beginning in NHL.tv. That’s where I first started with the “hold your hand out in front of your face” method to stop spoiling the games.

The ESPN app on Roku has a hide scores option, but I did not see that option on my phone.

So if I am reading this correctly, there is no way to watch tonight's game live unless you have cable?

Telus are a bunch of crooks. Wish we had free markets in ISP's, mobile phone carriers, etc which would allow for competition here. Had to pay an extra over $200 for NHL.tv when I'm already subscribed to Center Ice; because Telus are a bunch of scam artists.

It's ridiculous. I feel your pain. Tell Telus won't let you cancel Center Ice?

And ESPN plus doesn’t have tonight’s game because it’s on NHL network?
This garbage again.

This sucks ass.

I thought they fixed this last season. I guess they went back to their old ways with ESPN

will there be regular season games on NHL network too?

Ugh, just got my ESPN+ subscription - they need to add a 'Hide Scores' feature to the app ASAP...
