Also a shitty move that ESPN+ intentionally removed DVR functionality to rewind or start from the beginning while games are live for the playoffs.

I think they did this last year too, but then changed it back. Only reason I can think of is to take away the incentive to watch on ESPN+ and instead watch live on cable for the ads.

So it's just greed at the expense of their customers who paid for a service that promised DVR functionality and then resorted to bait and switch tactics.

Anyone getting the following error: "you're already playing the maximum number of streams allowed". I have two streams running watching the two west coast playoff games and now I'm getting that error. I used to be able to have 4 separate streams running with no errors. WTF ESPN+.

Good start to the playoffs with NHL TV. First TV timeout in the Avalanche game switched to women's baseball and stayed there until the second timeout. Later in the first a whole minute of play just wasn't there.

Telus TV+ with the Sports package works great for me. The stream is maybe 10-15 seconds delayed, but it's stable. I am outside Canada right now, and it is not supposed to be available. I connect with a VPN to my home IP as a workaround. This slows the stream considerably, but I noticed that if I disconnect the VPN once the stream is established, it works great. Apparently, once the IP verification is done, it no longer checks the IP address.

Absolutely all 6 streams of the 2 play-off games currently in progress have collapsed, and the NHL.tv app is completely dead. "We're trying to fix this stream, ERROR #210."

f*** these morons!

After about 10 minutes, 4 out of 6 streams recovered, but they are stupid national streams with static frozen "video break in progress" inserts, with zero intermission content, announcers being cut off mid-sentence, etc. etc. etc.

The Kings feed is now gone, lost. Just like they offered no Kings feed for the first 2 play-off games in Edmonton to begin with.

f*** this f***ing service, f*** these morons.

I've tried literally every streaming service and VPNs with ESPN plus. They all kind of suck. I refuse to get satellite or cable just for hockey. It's incredibly sad that "alternative" methods of watching games have become more reliable and convenient. I'm guilt free about it at this point.

Yeah I think I’m done with ESPN+ They advertised having playoff games when they’re going to have one of them in the first series.

The NHL refuses to meet their customers where they want to be met. Then wonder why they’re getting their butt kicked by the other major sports.

i am going to ask a stupid question...

is espn+ televising the playoffs?

i know tonight espn+ is gonna broadcast the rangers/devils game....

This morning I attempted to watch the Leafs OT from last night.
I don't have cable, so I recorded the game over-the-air, but my recording time wasn't extended enough, so it ended with 8 minutes left in OT! (which is 100% my fault of course, simple fix!)

So I log into Sportsnet NOW to watch their archived stream, surely they'll have the whole game?
NOPE! THEIR OWN STREAM ends a few minutes after mine did!!

So I log into YouTube to watch the NHL extended highlights (9 minute version), and that worked, got to see the ending, albeit the sanitized NHL.com version. Also it's littered with ad breaks every minute or so, but it worked.

Never worked so hard to watch a game without seeing the score, LOL. Sportsnet needs some help, they're ten years behind where they need to be tech-wise! :(

The NHL doesn’t want to make it easy for me to watch the playoffs, so they can go **** themselves. Cancelled cable and they don’t want to give me any great options, so this will be the first time in about 25 years I don’t watch the playoffs.

they are so ****ing dumb. How much money do they want to squeeze from us? I’ve been a loyal customer, an avid watcher on tv, a season ticket holder, buy tons of merchandise, but the current landscape for watching the NHL is so anti consumer and irritating that I’m just done with it.

Im done. They can make it easy for me or they can get nothing. Short sighted idiots running this ****.

Someone should sit Gary Bettman and some top TV executives down and just read them this entire thread from start to finish.

I can't stand the limited availability of The NHL Network.

I used to have it on PS Vue. Then that went away. Now I have fubo which is fine. But I'd like more choices for streaming.

From what I can tell Sling and fubo are the only choices in the US. Am I wrong?

I posted options in US 2 weeks ago in here.

The fact that we're in the playoffs in 2023 and the SportsNet feed (along with others) is still a blurry sub-720p mess is fascinating.
Are you referring to the early or late game.
I watched on the 4k Channel.
First game was Sportsnet produced, late game was whoever the US feed was.

All game long on NHL.tv. It's a problem for a lot of feeds (the only good feeds without blur that come to my mind are Bally Sports, ESPN and AT&T).

I lost the NHL Network when we dumped Comcast cable TV back in March. I usually only watch it for the IIHF U18 and U20 championships, but that impacted me a couple of weeks ago. The only streaming options I can find for the channel are the ones you listed -- Sling and Fubo. We went with YouTube TV, though, so I missed the U18's.

I subscribe to ESPN+ during the hockey season for the Habs games. Looks like it's time to cancel until the season starts up again in the fall.

Ya that sounds about right. I'm surprised the network isn't included with YTTV, or others.
