So I'm hearing in Canada NHL live will be no more and it will be available on SN NOW. Ive never had NHL Live but already have SN NOW via my cable subscription of SN TV channels. Probably a silly question, but this change doesn't automatically mean I get NHL live full gauntlet of games right?

As it stands now , I only get the national games and some American vs American games on SN NOW using my cable login. I'm assuming there would be an extra subscription for the NHL live equivalent on SN NOW. Which is logical. My biggest worry is if starting next season , the only way to get the any U.S vs U.S games via streaming is to get the "full" package rather than just logging in with my cable subscription credentials.
You will need SN NOW premium for more games.

Im ok with this as long I'm not "losing" games with SN NOW standard. Mainly the smattering of u.s vs u.s games I'm worried about. These seem to be "extra" games they are making available on the app. I hope they don't just transfer those games to premium.

SNOW+ always included a free NHL TV account for Canadians.

The issue is Sportsnet app sucks so hopefully all the Canadians have a secondary course for their NHL games

I'm not a sportsnet schill but since using the sn now premium app free preview via my samsung smart t.v I havent had any issues . I've watched some jays games , sn central every morning, round 1 of nhl draft , some montreal and islander archived games from last season without any issues .

You'd be the lucky one then since as of Sept 17th 2021 when they updated their app they broke everything. I would suspect it will work fine until the pre-season starts up again

I watched the Stanley Cup finals on the Sportsnet app ( Google Chromecast ) without issue . I suspect you are right though and there likely will be issues . I’m fully anticipating having to watch Bruins games on my iPad this year . I usually don’t have any issues watching hockey on my iPad . I suspect Amazon firestick and Chromecast users will have some issues .

The issue's spanned all devices regardless of OS level and Device type. There was a thread of over 100k posts on sportsnet facebook page however that was quietly deleted.

Like I said make sure you have a pirated stream ready to go because I will guarantee that the SN app will be a complete disaster when they add all the other games

I work shift work , I watch the majority of games when I get home at 11 pm so not sure pirated streams are a consistent option . It’s either go back to cable or live and die with Sportsnet .

The Sportnet apps stream well for me (iOS, iPadOS & Apple TV), but they all sign me out more than once per week. Annoying. NHL app was signed in all year no issues.

I'm in a similar situation and don't mind watching an isles game from the day before even if I know the score as I like to look for little things in the game that joe avg. might not appreciate

Is there another option for Canadians that’s cheaper? Aside from outright stealing I guess though I’m starting to understand the appeal.

I watch the bruins once a week if I’m lucky. Never actually the live game either. My interest in paying SN 250.00 for the year up there with smelling an egg fart in an elevator

Bell, is the other option, their full package is Centre Ice.

Centre Ice sucks because you don't get the away game feeds. But I may have to go back unless by miracle SportsNet finally joins Roku.
I'm not even sure if sn premium offers 2 feeds , I kinda doubt it because I've been re-watching some games from last season and theres only 1 feed available .

center ice through bell was around 208 + tax when I last subscribed so for an extra 40 bucks you get sn premium which gives you whatevers on sn channels that isnt blacked out .

I'd love to see sn make an app for Roku but that doesnt seem like its happening . I found out by fluke that my samusung smart tv has the sn app and I'll give it a try for 1 season and take it from there .

Does anyone have tips for how they consume the NHL this year, or any other year. My subscription to ESPN+ expires 2 days after the price increase goes into effect, and while it is still cheaper on ESPN+ than NHL.TV, I didn't like the user interface on ESPN+. Also, what do you do for NHL Network games. I have done things I can't announce publicly here, but why does the NHL make it so hard to consume it's product? My dream would be offering the NHL Package as part of Youtube TV (Or offer it as part of Hulu since they are the same company) and start putting NHL Network on these various streaming services. Hell, if it's still part of Comcast, I have Peacock so they could put NHL Network on Peacock.

I'm just wondering if I've been doing this wrong for years and if anyone has any easier suggestions.

I watch ESPN+ through the Hulu Live package. The Hulu interface isn't the best, but it's ok. It works much better than through the ESPN+ interface. Unfortunately, Hulu does not have NHL network.

My ports are full already. If I have to buy another device along the big price increase of 250 for NHL, that runs me well over $300 for another season. Not having my favorite teams away feeds. Not sure it's worth it anymore.

if you had nhl live last year then sn premium will be 170-179 next season . I'm assuming as an incentive to give it a try at same price as nhl live

you should have received an email from them at around the cup finals and again at around the time of the nhl draft indicating so .

My NHL live last year cost $201

So I bought a Fire Stick, download the SportsNet app and well it sucks compared to NHL Live. Very slow with the FF button, I tried Apple baseball and FF button works fine. So it is a SportsNet issue and they don't offer away game feeds like NHL Live did and yes that is a big deal to me to listen to some other teams announcers. It's sad the NHL is allowing SportsNet to have a lesser product. Things should get better, not worse with modern technology. I may have to look for streams on the internet to get what I had last year. Paying the same price for a lesser product is not what I want despite being a customer for over 15 years.

Haha yep.

Thank god there's some really nice grey area streams

I wonder when the early bird special or the promo code will be available for purchase. The trial period ends on September 5 or 6 ? I’ve been enjoying watching the Blue Jays on Sportsnet and want to keep rolling with what I have.

I'll let you know if I receive it via email . I'd suspect anytime now considering its late august and the free trial ends sept 5
