NHL.TV / Center Ice / ESPN+ Discussion - Part IV [See the warning in OP]

So I bought a Fire Stick, download the SportsNet app and well it sucks compared to NHL Live. Very slow with the FF button, I tried Apple baseball and FF button works fine. So it is a SportsNet issue and they don't offer away game feeds like NHL Live did and yes that is a big deal to me to listen to some other teams announcers. It's sad the NHL is allowing SportsNet to have a lesser product. Things should get better, not worse with modern technology. I may have to look for streams on the internet to get what I had last year. Paying the same price for a lesser product is not what I want despite being a customer for over 15 years.
I bought one today, should arrive before the weekend via amazon .

with the sportsnet now premium free preview still in effect until sept 5th I'll mess around to see how it performs .

Does anyone have tips for how they consume the NHL this year, or any other year. My subscription to ESPN+ expires 2 days after the price increase goes into effect, and while it is still cheaper on ESPN+ than NHL.TV, I didn't like the user interface on ESPN+. Also, what do you do for NHL Network games. I have done things I can't announce publicly here, but why does the NHL make it so hard to consume it's product? My dream would be offering the NHL Package as part of Youtube TV (Or offer it as part of Hulu since they are the same company) and start putting NHL Network on these various streaming services. Hell, if it's still part of Comcast, I have Peacock so they could put NHL Network on Peacock.

I'm just wondering if I've been doing this wrong for years and if anyone has any easier suggestions.
check out superbox....i dont have one, but have seen them in action and they 100% will get everything you would need...im not entirely sure on the fine prints but it is 100% "legal" at the moment (again not sure how all it works because it seems way to good to be true), but will be getting one before the start of the season.

Heard a podcast last night, guy was from Australia, he was pissed, and said it applies to all international. He said used to pay $150 for NHL.tv, now it will cost him $50 a month to get the games, he says a lot of the International crowd will just not bother.

If you're familiar with how Andriod boxes work, I'd stay from this one. The price point doesn't justify the product. If you have no idea what you're doing and don't know where to begin, I suppose it can be worth it. But cheaper options exist.

I know someone with a "hacked" Firestick and they get everything under the sun. Movies, sports, etc. I'll try out the Sportsnet Now, but if the quality sucks, I may have no choice but to buy an "eye patch".

so far , so good with the firestick ''lite'' / sn now - premium .According to the info on firestick the app was last updated july 22nd

I'm going to let entire games from the available 21-22 library (seems like every teams final 50 games are available)play while I do things around the house and occasionally check to see if theres any ''logs me out'' issues .

no matter what I'm going to subscribe to sn now premium when the free preview ends since theres no other choice . I'm just waiting for the coupon code that they will send nhl live custumers who can get it for 179 instead of 250.

with my luck , I'd be the one guy in canada that gets caught pirating so I'll pass on that advice but certainly understand why some go that route

Nice to know the firestick is a good option. I recently purchased a projector. I really don’t know a lot about them but if the projector is something I can use regularly I might purchase a firestick to use with the projector. My Google Chromecast has worked great all summer on my tv .

I havent detected a noted difference between the 720p firestick and 1080 p samsung smart tv in regards to sn now app .If firestick starts to cause the noted login / logout issues some complain about I'll just use the samsung smart tv version of the app instead.

I noted many of the bad sn app reviews are from users that have cable tv / satt. tv and use those credentials to login

Samsung smart tv I had, the apps sucked, Netflix would freeze, then would have to start over, bought a Roku/ fire stick and never happened again. Home theatre rep, told me built in apps all suck.

I'm relatively new to streaming so my samsung smart t.v was my introduction .

I bought 2 Roku's for my 2 non-smart t.v's and liked the interface much more than samsung smart tv features so I bought a 3rd one and plugged into an hdmi port on the smart t.v to override it . I've disconnected the 3 Roku's and replaced with 3 firestick lites so that I can get SN . I would have preferred SN make an app for ROKU but for now it is what it is ......

cant seem to find the information..does Sportsnet Now allow multiple users or just 1 can view?
Just one . You can be logged into as many devices as you want but only stream one device at a time . Although I have used it on my IPad and Google Chromecast at the same time ( briefly) I wouldn’t count on being able to do that .

Yeah , I used Roku the last few years and it was great it’s unfortunate but it’s out of our control .

ok...thanks for that. I have had centre ice for years and was thinking of flipping to nhl game centre as i liked the choice of which feed to watch and the portability of watching when travelling...sportsnet will offer option of feed?

anyone know if the sportsnet app can be watched outside of Canada? I have Shaw bluecurve but cant watch outside Canada..

if i switched to sportsnet i just want to make sure no Bruins games will be blacked out..not sure why they would be as i live in British Columbia

only 1 feed seems to be another beef sn now custumers had . I'm not sure if things will be different now that they are technically the canadian ''nhl live'' replacement . You sure Jack Edwards 3-4 times a week is healthy for you :sarcasm:

No it won't work once you leave a canadian IP address. When I used to go to mesa I would just log in to my NHL.TV account and that worked fine. But sportsnet won't work

no, but really interested....if you can dm me or post where to look and how/what to get/setup i would appreciate it.....have been researching for a few weeks and just cant find clear instruction.

so its aug 31 and the sn now premium free preview for nhl live custumers ends on sept 5th .

sn is supposed to send us a coupon code which gives us a discount for 2022-23 season (179 instead of 249)

has anyone received theirs yet ? I'm not asking you to post your coupon code , just wanna know if you received it yet .

I'm hoping we get to keep our nhl live login/password which is what sn asked us to use during the free preview

I hope I’m wrong but I highly doubt the early bird special with promo code will be ready to go by September 5 . Unfortunately we may have to go without Sportsnet for a couple of weeks. I was enjoying watching Blue Jays games .

I'm hoping they want to capitalize on us enjoying jays and other sn shows asap instead of giving us 3 weeks to consider other things to do

The fact that we can't get the NHL Live app and service is disgusting. I don't want sportsnet. I hate sportsnet. Their app stinks, and I want to watch all games, not just the ones they carry. I cannot now watch any out of market games for the Jets, Sens, Leafs or Habs that are broadcast on TSN because of this bullshit!! So angry

The NBA is cutting their subscription service over 50% to increase viewers and to try to limit people using illegal streams, meanwhile NHL Live gets scrapped in Canada and people are forced to pay more for a shitty Sportsnet alternative lol.

sportsnet premium is allowed to use the tsn feeds for the purpose of their out of market pkg so you are misinformed .
