NHL.TV / Center Ice / ESPN+ Discussion - Part IV [See the warning in OP]

Do you have a source for the NHL Network part? I haven't seen anything and ESPN isn't televising all the preseason games.

If you look at the schedule on ESPN.com under national tv you see espn+ isn’t listed for games on NHL network (which are listed NHL). Note for the first night which is on espn and is being simulcast on plus, it list both.

NHL Schedule | ESPN

The Athletic also reports NHL Network games will not be included on ESPN+

A viewing guide on how to watch NHL hockey on American television or streaming platforms

Finally ESPN+ has not included any of NHL Network’s games during the regular season, but has picked up the games that have been televised (not every preseason game is televised locally).

It makes sense. Both ESPN+ and NHL Network are considered networks and NHL Network has rights to certain games. Why would cable systems carry NHL Network if their slate of games was also carried on an outlet that is a must subscribe because they have a slate of local games. It is very different than a expensive subscription service like NHL.tv or Center Ice previously. The drop in cost means NHLN games need to be protected.

NHL Network is probably the least carried network out there. The NHL really does make it hard for people to watch their games sometimes.

I appreciate saving $160 a year, but I actually started to like nhl.tv there towards the end. I don't really like ESPN+. It's more difficult than it needs to be because there's so much junk. You've got to scroll through a million random sporting events to get to what you want to see.

On the plus side, there shouldn't be streaming issues anymore. If we're on the same platform that they use for NFL/college football, they're going to dump tons of money in it to make it work.

Im not seeing this in Settings. Help…?
After opening Settings, look for Video Settings and open it. Now look for the option to turn Live Score Data on or off.
I use a Roku box with YouTubeTV for streaming. But I also have a stand-alone ESPN app that I use for ESPN+.

As a former NHL.tv subscriber, I'm going through the ESPN+ app on Roku. From the ESPN+ main page, it takes 20 CLICKS to get to the list of live NHL games. First, you've got to click past College Football, Top Picks, Shows, Films, Replays, Collections, "Get Ready for Fury Vs. Wilder III," "Best of Manny Pacquiao," "Best of Tom Brady" (ewww), Classic LaLiga Soccer, etc--to get to the list of live NHL games.

ESPN's twitter confirmed that you can't customize the main screen at all according to your favorites. So it looks like the list of live NHL games is, for the time being, going to stay buried just underneath Spanish soccer matches from 2016.

(You can always scroll down to the "Leagues>NHL" submenu to get the list. That's only 12 clicks away, lol.)

Anyone else having issues today?
I am overseas and have been on the plan for awhile. I got my auto renewal email last week. When I tried to watch games today I got a
Message that my account is not entitled to view this content and asked me to buy a plan?
What the h e double hockey sticks?

Anyone know how if you can still watch this via apple TV? I'm in Australia and tells me to download the ESPN app and watch through Foxtel but when I download the app says streaming not available in this area. NHLTV was too easy I guess, had to complicate the f*** out of it I guess after a decade of no issues

Ok i don’t have this option on the website or the app. Now, i want to put out there, i had a ESPN+ membership and a Disney+ membership on a separate email. I’ve canceled the original espn one but leaving the Disney+. Idk if that’s having an effect or not but i wouldn’t see why.

Yes, I have the same problem. In the letter, they wrote that they would withdraw money on October 11, but apparently, they forgot to rebuild the date for renewing the subscription to NHL.TV, because they usually used to withdraw money on October 1-2 for the new season. And it turned out that the money for the new season has not yet been debited from us, but the broadcasts are no longer available right now...

added bonus that I wasnt expecting from nhl tv canadian version

I knew the isles-devils werent going to be televised by msg+ so I went into the nhltv isles page to watch some camp interviews and they had a link to the isles-devils game which was streamed by the isles (I'm guessing ahl broadcast team of picker and corey wright)

Hey Duke, sorry about the bum lead for ESPN app settings/options. It seems the Settings option is not present in some versions of the ESPN app. I have it in my Roku, but yesterday I discovered it's not in my Samsung tablet.

I'm from canada and i'm currently watching the free preview for Center Ice , waiting for the freeview to be over to subscribe to CI again. Idk if it's because it's on freeview , but i saw something over the last few days that i rarely saw in my years of having CI : This game is no longer available on CI .

I had CI since maybe 15 years and i saw this message once in those 15 years ... i saw it last week twice already. Idk if it's bacause of the freeview , but i hope it doesnt have anything to do with ESPN+ and the new TV deal in the US.

Eventually my dish company will tell me how much i will have to pay for CI this season ( yeah i know oct 3rd and still nothing ) . They will have to give me answers because i wont pay the price i paid in the last few seasons IF some games are missing at the rate that i saw in the last few days.

I'm Thinking of getting NHL live through iTunes as I got a few iTunes gift cards as gifts. I'm in the Jets region so I know those games won't be included which is fine.

Here's my question. Is there any way I can get the Jets games with similar viewing options as NHL live ( i.e live pvr functions and same night on demand access) using steaming logins from my regional tv/cable provider? I quite often can't watch games live but can later in the evening. Have PVR but it's space is getting tight.

I have TSN and Sportsnet through cable. I also have the apps across multiple platforms. I don't mind even paying extra if it meant access to on-demand /live pvr access similar to what NHL live offers

Edit: well I found out Sportsnet's app on my Apple tv has pvr functions/on demand games. The jets/Canucks game tonight is available. Now just need to find out if Jets regional games are available on TSN's app.

Anyone know what's going to happen with Directv? I noticed they got rid of the channels assigned to NHL games in the guide. Are they just going to black out all the games and not give you any option to buy the package?

I sent an email complaint to customer service. No response yet. 2 days later still no access.

I locked into my account, paid by Paypal instead of the CC they had on file and it worked. I can log in again and watch the games. I know that's not the way it was supposed to be with the automatic renewal...

Ugh, I've been trying to use the ESPN app on my Android tablet and there is no option to hide the scores on this platform. I've browsed through all the settings options and don't see it. I can't spend an entire season with the score of every game I want to watched ruined for me.

Is there a way to hide the scores if you access through the website instead of using an app?

I do have a Samsung TV but the ESPN app doesn't want to load up on that for some reason.

Thanks

Sportsnet's video player in their iPadOS app seems improved this year. I was watching a Leafs preseason game and was able to stop it, and they finally have a Resume button...didn't have to start over completely. And they added a Skip Forward +30 button, never thought I'd see the day. :) Haven't tried their Apple TV app yet, hoping for similar improvements.

what if they charge your CC again on the 11th?

I've discovered that the ESPN app's features will vary depending on which device you're using. As for hiding scores, I can do that with the ESPN app that's loaded on my Roku, but I don't have that option with the ESPN app on my Samsung (Android) tablet nor is there a "hide scores" option when I access ESPN+ via their website.
I suspect this would be a simple feature to add to all versions of the ESPN app, since it already exists for Roku users.
Added: I just chatted with an ESPN rep about the need for the "hide scores" option in their app for use on all devices.

I wish the official NHL app could stream ESPN+ content, provided you have the right log-in credentials.

The NHL phone app is so nice. Over the weekend there were (4) videos and an article posted specific to my favorite team (Colorado Avalanche). By comparison, the EPSN app has a "News" tab for the Avalanche, but the latest story is "Six NHL teams in need of a serious uniform redesign" from four days ago, and the fourth newest story is 56 days old.
