I'm baffled as to why the Wild retained on Maroon when the Bruins can quite easily place him on LTIR.

I'm missing something
My guess it’s in case they get another player and need extra cap space for the regular season? I mean it would be wise to get Maroon in a few games before the playoffs

Ultimately here's what you're getting with Maroon:

Pros:
- He's a leader
- He's a winner, regardless of his "impact"
- He's a great guy in the room, everyone who played with him enjoys him. Great personality.
- He will stand up for his teammates
- He still has a set of hands around the net

Cons:
- Obviously the back surgery
- He's slow and in his mid 30's
- He's probably not going to beat anyone up, he's strong and will hang in there, though.

I think I'm on board with Middleton being the white whale at this deadline after seeing Wothespoon get smoked by Bertuzzi last night. Middleton is an actual good defender that can go with the best of them, go get him.

20%
Sometihing else going on. Middelton?
Last I heard was they were circling back but didn't look likely. I don't know how this can be related because they could have retained in Middleton.

However, Middleton has one more year and maybe the Wild didn't want to retain on the second year.

But this would still require another move to create cap space for Middleton
