totally throwing stuff against the wall to see if it will stick but...

maybe kesler's reputation preceded him and teams didn't wanna touch him with a 10 ft pole unless it was for a steal of a deal.

all you gotta do is a quick google search to find out about his alleged extra-curricular activities.

did i miss something? i mean, i don't even know what to google here.

:biglaugh:

Hi, we want your top-3-in-the-league 2-way 2nd line center but don't want to give you anything useful except a young-ish 3rd liner.

Please?

What's even funnier is that people will be asking for Gillis' head because he didn't trade Kesler for garbage.

Kesler is gold, not some cheap ass copper wire. Pay up or get it out.

He's gonna net a big return if he's traded, that's for sure.

elliotte friedman on the team said he was hearing (and he said if he was hearing it gillis was hearing it) alot of teams wanted to be in the kesler sweep steaks could not for various reasons right now. I get the impression he was basically referring to cap issues and what not at the deadline. He also said from the information he got, he would have also pulled back. Hints that he thinks alot of teams that get knocked out of playoffs will be interested over summer.

Friedman talks about Kesler refusing to waive for CLB and NYR. He also says it was a bit ad hock for the Canucks because they haven't sat down with Kesler to come up with a firm compromise for him and the team, list wise. It's why he could reject moves out of turn.

He says the team and Kesler will likely sit down and formulate an offseason plan, for his "list", so they are able to react better to offers. Also, he says that there were teams wanting in on Kesler, that couldnt do it that point (think he was referring to CHI).

Good material in that interview.

As an aside: Says Tomas Vanek has a lot to prove. His value is in the tank because teams don't recognize his contribution as elite, which is why he didnt garner an elite price.

Wouldn't mind if MG splashes cash on him when he hits the market even if his perceive value is low.

I would mind... A lot. If the team wants a high end scorer on the cheap, go after Gaborik. At least they know what he's done with Torts as his coach. No interest in Vanek at all. None.

Me to. And hawks fans seem to want kesler but keep asking if we would take bickell back and that they cant do it right now.

Not sure if Gab wants to work with Torts. I feel like Vanek would be a good linemate for Kes.

Thanks for sharing Bleach.

That's points lost for Gillis.

This is something you absolutely have to discuss with your players beforehand.

I think Kesler will be gone before July 1st. So finding him a linemate isn't a priority IMO. After that, there's no way I'm giving big money to Vanek. Dislike the player very much. Don't get me wrong, some team will, but I hope it's not the Canucks. There's a reason his stock fell so hard at the deadline. Worse that Gaborik's IMO.

@Wilch: No problem, and yes, they should have nailed it down before hand. However, it also gives me hope that they can come to a compromise on a list that benefits both sides - instead of just Kesler himself.

Probably makes more sense to move Kes after the season anyways. Cap's going up, many teams will get knocked out of the playoffs early and be looking to address whatever their cause for failure was, by making a big splash.

According to Botch (and other sources) the offered packages were more or less a joke anyways.

Well I think regardless of Kesler staying or not, you will still need players that can handle the minutes and put up points. I know his stock has fallen quite a bit but then I am not sure if Crosby could've saved NYI.

Pardon me for interjecting as a Ranger fan, but I feel there's absolutely no chance of Gaby signing to play for Torts again. Their working relationship was completely broken by the time of trade to Columbus. Gaby had a NTC and he waived very easily to get out of that situation. Google some articles.

Also, there are now KHL clubs in both Slovakia and the Czech Republic. He might prefer a decent/good contract there to a "show-me" low-end offer from a NHL team. I feel like that's far more likely than him willingly signing on to play for Torts again.

Yeah unless the KHL is reeling from some post Olympic blues these are guys I could see heading over this summer.

If you want to spend money on a player free agency usually isn't the best way to go though. It happens every year or two, some 'untouchable' 'franchise' player becomes unhinged with his team and wants out. In the cap world you need to be in a position receive and have the assets to acquire. It's how we got Luongo in the first place, except this time we need a Joe Thornton or Phil Kessel.

No interest at all?

You'd rather Leino....

It was just some rumours about how Kesler temporary forgot he was married at a club.
I do not know if it is true or not though...
Because I read about it a couple of months ago...
But I have not heard anything again.

Very interesting.
Hopefully neither the Bruins or Pens win the Cup and both will revisit this with better offers.
Edler wont waive his NTC. None of the D will be moved cause Bieksa, Hamhuis, Garrison wont either and Tanev isn't getting trading. Kesler, Hansen, Higgins are the only pieces I see moving.
