In a vacuum sure but he doesn’t make a lot of sense here unless they plan to extend him. He’s a UFA at season’s end and is looking for a 4-5 year deal at age 34, according to some hockey media. Also he and Edmundson play the same type of game and Zadorov isn’t going to displace Sandin or Fever so either he or Edmundson would be sitting and a waste of draft picks.
The Edmundson pick-up, meanwhile, is looking savvy. He's been solid, is relatively cheap, and could probably net at least a comparable pick back at the TDL if the season goes sideways.

We're in lockstep with the Pens. Their PP is 0 for their last 30. Also they are ass.
That is pretty funny.

1 point behind us while having played 3 games more.

I hope they stay in the hunt and blow their 2025 1st rounder too, trying to stay competitive.

They were delusional to fancy themselves buyers after missing the playoffs in an almost entirely healthy season from their star players.

I can't imagine they are delusional enough to do it again while being well out of a playoff position part way through the season.

And we had many in here beating the drum that the Pens were in the right, we should follow suit and go all in like they did.

But also, I almost feel like them going all in last year kinda necessitates them doing the same now. You've got this core, it'll be there for the next 4 years probably at least. You have to try to make it work now.

I had to get creative how to place it, but I got penguins under .5 power-play goals tonight.

I had to do Sidney Crosby anytime PowerPlay points, and they wouldn’t let me a Parlay them all. I could only pick one penguins under PP and Sid had the best odds

Gudbranson just lost his mind.

Brutal to watch, really.
Gudbranson pissed about that board from Cousins earlier in the game. Surprised the refs changed their mind on the 5 for Cousins, probably should have gotten a match penalty on his hit to Gudbranson. Not at all condoning what Gudbranson did there but I can see why he lost his mind.

That boarding wasn't even a malicious hit. Gudbranson just didn't brace him at all for the hit and Cousins caught him and the damage was done when both of them lost their balance and crashed into the boards. I mean sure, 5 wouldn't have been a crime but i can see why it's only a minor. Gudbranson likes to hit himself, he needs to brace himself better to take one too. Is that the sort of hit to lose your mind about? I watched it a few times and while it's sort of reckless, it's not like it's a hit that had clear intent to injure, just a bad outcome.

But it's still a really bad look at whoever the bald guy is coaching the Blue Jackets, Gudbranson and the entire league. I mean, Gudbranson didn't just lose his mind, he lost his mind twice. First time right after the hit and he was furious the entire time after that. It's a terrible look for the coach that he can't control his own players in a 1-goal game when it was obvious that the player couldn't control himself, and that's a brutal look for the league because that could have ended really badly, and he is going to get the book thrown at him.

Everything about that follow through on the hit was malicious and intended to finish. f*** that hit, was really dangerous, don't blame Gudbranson for taking a number and seeing his spot.

Don't necessarily condone it either, but I get it in the overall sense of the way hockey has policed itself in spite of referees at times. The fact that he was that pissed right away after getting drilled into the boards should tell you something.

Agree to disagree about the hit.

Yes, the way he bounced back right after to jump pummeling the guy tells me that he wasn't injured on the hit.

Punching a guy half your size in the back of the head while he's turtling has no part in the game.

I mean Gudbrandson was out of line but Cousins hit would have pissed off anyone, not least professional athletes. So can't really blame him, especially not after Cousins turtling directly after the hit.

Oh yes, i'm going to blame him.

Whether you think it's a bad hit or not, punching someone in the back of the head while turtling is a move that has nothing to do with hockey. I wish boarding and hits like that wasn't part of the game either, but it's a fast game and those kind of hits unfortunately happen. Physical player like Gudbranson himself should know that very well, too. He has been ejected for boarding before. There are clean star players that sometimes cross the very same line and board someone. Of the top of my head, McDavid, DeBrincat, Svechnikov and from the Capitals there are atleast Ovechkin, Wilson, Fehervary.

Would that still be your reaction if you swap one of those players (other than Wilson who can handle himself) for Cousins and Gudbranson goes after them like that? I don't think so.
