I see one superstar in there at least……so my point exactly……don’t hold your breath. I hope he is though….better for the league.
Mmmm thats a pretty good list. It has the #1C on the best team this decade, 2nd best winger last decade, 2 time art ross winner, etc.

There's been plenty of superstars under 6'0". I get having size is good, but you don't need 18 big dudes on your team.

A superstar is a generational player, a perennial all-star for a decade plus, not a guy who is an all star for less than a handful of years. To me…but whatever. We can have different definitions.

Fair enough. I do have a hard time believing someone would not consider Patrick Kane a superstar though.

After an internal investigation, the Chicago Blackhawks have determined that Corey Perry has engaged in conduct that is unacceptable, and in violation both of the terms of his Standard Player’s Contract and the Blackhawks’ internal policies intended to promote professional and safe work environments. As such, Corey Perry has been placed on unconditional waivers. In the event Mr. Perry clears waivers, we intend to terminate his contract effective immediately.

This seems like something much more than that stupid rumor.

I never said he wasn’t I don’t think. Most certainly is a US Superstar as a 1200pt scorer, but he’s also listed at 5’10. ;)

Not sure who's hating on small players, but the reigning Conn Smythe winner is 5'9".
Right?

On top of that, it's a bit of a chicken and egg situation. Historically, small players simply don't get a chance. How much effort did it take St. Louis to break into the league? Marchessault? Hard to turn into a quality NHL player if you have trouble getting drafted or getting ice time. It's a hell of a lot easier for a guy like Mantha. Sure, he doesn't use his size to his advantage but would you just look at that nice big body of his.

It would be like me looking over an organization that employs industrial tradespeople and saying 'Boy, women sure don't make a good electrician. Not a one to be found'. So, Mary Scrufflebottom, thanks for sending your resume in but until the industry is chock-a-block of your type, we gonna air on the side of caution.

Sounds hazing related, that stuff can be borderline sexual assault at times and given the Blackhawks history with that stuff they want to be firm in the matter.

Or, he tried to organize a team bungee jumping trip, the team declined, but he did it anyway.

The Blackhawks didn't really say much of anything during their press conference, but the one thing they did do was deny vehemently that it involved any player's family.
It was certainly notable for how little Kyle Davidson had to say.

"didn't involve any players or their families"

"the other players don't know the details or anything about what happened"

Come on - the last part is total bs. Are we REALLY to believe that nobody on the team knows what Perry did? bullshit

Sooner or later this is going to get out - it's just a matter of whether it's going to be "oh fgs is that it??" or "holy crap what a degenerate".

I mean, we never got any confirmed details about Jakub Vrana. So... we'll see.

I think the only way we get real details is if the NHLPA files a protest on Perry's behalf.

The Hawks' vehement denial reminds me of the posturing of one Dan Snyder a decade ago: "We'll never change the name," he said. "It's that simple. NEVER — you can use caps."

Big business often seems to feel it needs to throw all its weight behind indefensible positions. Not sure what Perry did but I'd take the organization's denials with a grain of ice.

My little birds are telling me that Corey Perry stepped on the Blackhawks logo in the locker room and that's why they're terminating his contract.

Kane looked pretty awful last year, can’t imagine he will look much better this year.

Where did the thing about Perry and Bedards mom come from? That seems very stupid from Perrys side. And im not sure if the Hawks actions would be legal according to the CBA if that is what happened.

It's not difficult to see how somebody would come up with a rumour like that. It is exactly the type of childish, stupid shit somebody would make up. But it's also the kind of thing that could happen on a team trip involving player's mothers and people having a few too many drinks on a team outing.

Now the interesting thing is, the Hawks GM has stated in a press conference that what Perry did had "nothing to do with other players or their families" and "even the players don't know what he did".

So he is on record as saying the rumour is not true. IF he is lying then he's going to lose his job and will be out of the GM boys club. Because eventually what Perry did is going to get out.

The part I DO think is a lie is that "even the players don't know what he did". Pfft, really? If that's true then it must be the most boring and uncommunicative locker room in the history of sports.

Corey Perry killed Henry Kissinger.

Makes sense that a scummy organization would cut him after that heroic act.

The amount of overlap between reports of Kissinger's death and people posting crab rave is killing me.
