What, just because of last time? Who are we looking to for learning here? Babcock's own introspection?

Even if he cuts off the worst 10% I doubt he's going to rearrange his whole course of being and everything that got him here. He'll likely do it without even knowing it, emotional abusers often do.
His career is on the line….he must know it, and it most certainly was discussed in the hiring process IMO….I’d expect he has a new sense of “awareness”…..or he doesn’t and he won’t last, and this will be his last gig.

We can only be aware of our most extraneous biases without external help. If he hasn't been in therapy for the last few years trying to figure out where he went wrong I have zero to little hope for him suddenly finding a new leaf.

How could he have not been advised by those close to him to take some kind of therapy after all that? If anything just to show some growth to prospective new employers that he’s capable of helming their franchise without the abuse.

Advised, sure, the rest is to remain to be seen. Based on the psychology of NHL coaches so far I don't really have high hopes.

Flyers tanking. CBJ trying to climb out of the basement.

Interesting. If the return is a lot then maybe Kuznetsov returns something after all.

"Improving our blue line has been a priority for us and acquiring Ivan gives us an established left-shot defenseman who is still a young player with his best seasons in front of him," said Kekalainen.

:huh::skeptic:

Im still trying to see all the details of the trade. But a 2nd and a prospect doesnt seem that bad.

It's a first round pick and a second round pick from Columbus to Philadelphia.

Provorov is probably a third pairing guy on any serious team. Maybe a second pairing guy if he bounces back some. Horrible trade for Columbus and a huge win for Philadelphia.

Richmond
Columbus had a need for a LHD but they should have targeted Orlov in FA. Provorov has always been overrated

Help me understand what LA is getting out of this? It appears they are eating some salary, giving up a 2024 2nd, and getting nothing in return?:huh::huh:

Never mind, the tweet is garbage. Here's the whole scoop from NHL.com

Provorov, along with forward Hayden Hodgson, were traded to the Kings for goalie Cal Petersen, defenseman Sean Walker, defenseman prospect Helge Grans and a second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. The Flyers also traded defenseman Kevin Connauton to the Blue Jackets for the Kings' first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft and a second-round pick in the 2024 or 2025 NHL Draft.

Provorov was then traded to the Blue Jackets for Connauton.

They're getting out from Cal Petersen's contract (2 more years at $5 million per year), though they do have to retain $2.025 million per year for 2 years on Provorov in order to do so.

Basically they're getting $3 million in cap space for two years and had to give up Sean Walker, a second round draft pick, and a prospect to do so. It seems steep but none of those pieces are going to factor into their future and they will presumably be competing again next year.

Take a look at the Peterson contract they just dumped. (2 more years at $5m per.)

(HF servers are rather unhappy, this never showed up after I hit Post, and when I saw that Twabby had already responded I moved on with my life.)

Oh that’s silly. Flyers have been looking to trade Provorov for months. That’s why they paid that stupid contract to Sanheim (and Ristolainen, and D’Angelo).

They’ve been looking to dump Provy for a while, IMO.
When he ends up not getting moved this off-season because there are no takers…..remember this conversation. ;)

It’s 5m in cap space, isn’t it? They spend 2.5m or so to Provorov, and they lose 7.6m between the 2 players out. The players back are fillers.

LOL. If you can prove there were no takers, I will certainly eat crow.

Just his “staying” does not mean “no takers”. Let’s be clear with that at least
