Pittsburgh holds their management to higher standards than Washington.
Indeed, that's how you do it. Clean house.

Washington’s management team has done a better job so that makes sense.
Firing Fletcher was definitely a bummer for us but is Briere any good as a GM? He ran the Maine Mariners in the ECHL from 2018-19 through halfway through last season and now he's the Flyers interim GM. They had a dud of a deadline and have Torts behind the bench. Decent prospect pool but nothing to write home about given they haven't won a playoff round since 2011-12 and only qualified for the playoffs in four of the last ten seasons.Between this and the Flyers suddenly not doing stupid things, not pleasant news.
Wonder if Sullivan hits the market then.
I think I much prefer Carbery, but if Sullivan hits the market this team has shown they love Pittsburgh cast offs.
The difference between Caps management and Pens management is this: GMBM tried to make this team competitive in spite of their star players and GMRH made his team less competitive despite their star players. They have, however cleaning house like the Pens made a statement. They just need to realize they're old too. At least the Cap's management somewhat recognized the Caps are old.
The Caps depth, blue line, and goaltending were all good enough to make the playoffs and compete and they were let down by the guys they paid the most.

BMac identified areas of deficiency and filled them with varying degrees of success. The Pens stars are still stars and good enough for another bite at the apple but Hextall and Co filled out a dogshit roster around them and sold futures to do so. Hextall actively made his team worse with the moves his made.
My biggest gripe with BMac is they have no contributors at all from the 2015-2017 drafts which is hurting them now and that they didn't force a youth movement until things were out of hand this year. He's consistently done well identifying gaps in the team and being aggressive to fix them and I think people hold guys like Backstrom, Oshie, and Kuznetsov regressing too much against him.
A house cleaning in Pittsburgh.

The Pens board is such a fun read right now.... makes me feel a lot better about our situation because our veteran coach who has entirely worn out his welcome, isn't signed to a hundred year contract like it is over there. Oh and they love Hextall too
Would they have fired Rutherford? It’s not really the same thing. Hextall hasn’t accomplished shit. They have, however cleaning house like the Pens made a statement. They just need to realize they're old too. At least the Cap's management somewhat recognized the Caps are old.
I love Burkie's flow, it's like if Pat Riley were Santa the day after Christmas
Jarmo did his best for the tank.
Jarmo did his best for the tank.
Shut down star players early.
Traded players that could play at the NHL-level.
They used a total of 41 different skaters this season.
Moved their only goalie that could stop something.
Kept feeding games to Michael Hutchinson.
TraLOLOLOLOLOL.
The first comment is the best, from an apparent Flyers fan: "I'd rather pass a sea urchin through my urethra."
Ducks fired Dallas Eakins. There has never been a more brilliant and decorated Tank Commander than Dallas Eakins. What he did in the last month of the season is legendary.
You've heard of Rommel, Patton... MORONS!
