Had the Caps won in regulation tonight it would have cost something like a high 2nd in draft capital. Columbus maybe cost themselves like the 8-10 pick in draft capital. An additional 1/7 shot at Bedard!

It was the greatest goal scoring season ever in the cap era anyway and it’s not particularly close. Save percentage is the lowest it’s been in a decade and the lowest it’s been since the two-line pass was removed. Goals per game are up 15% this season compared to 2007-08. PP% is up 20% compared to 2007-08. Ovechkin had a 13 goal lead on the second leading scorer in the league his season while McDavid finished a three goal lead.

Ovechkin’s 2007-08 season was the most dominant goal scoring season in the modern era. He did it when scoring was harder and he did it a level far superior to his peers. That’s nothing to take away from McDavid who may have just had the most dominant season in the modern era and is a video game create-a-player but if we’re talking about most impressive goal scoring feats in the cap era, it’s Ovi and then a wide gap before we discuss anyone else.

We all know this. People who know anything about hockey know this. Look at the final stats, so many 100 point players you cant even see anyone under 100 unless you expand the chart. This is not 22-23 this is 82-83 baby

Wonder if Sullivan hits the market then.

I think I much prefer Carbery, but if Sullivan hits the market this team has shown they love Pittsburgh cast offs.

I also think we need someone younger. We need someone who can help develop young talent.

Im not saying Sullivan cannot, but he seems more valuable to a contender.

I suspect Sullivan is going to stay put and they are going to try to build a roster around his system rather than doing whatever Hextall and Burke did with their roster construction.
