I mean….his first 89 games in the NHL, 27g 68 pts. Clubs are tripping over themselves trying to lock into cost certainty early. If you believe it’s a guy who is going to contribute big for this deal + more maybe, you commit.

Some really nice talent coming into the NHL recently, with the contract timing to get paid much earlier than in the past…..
Depends on whether you believe last season is his true potential, not the results so far this season.

The irony of Tortarella praising Provorov for "being true to himself" is stunning when you consider that Provorov was refusing to participate in wearing a jersey intended to celebrate other people being true to themselves.

For added context - John Tortorella Says He Would Bench American Players Who Protest National Anthem
I’m pretty sure Torts reversed his thinking on the pregame protest stuff after some rally he went to. Something along the lines of he hopes that a player on his team would come to him so they could bring it to the team together and decide on what would take place.

No, actually I’ve never really gotten along with Goon and have never once messaged him privately. But hey, keep making stuff up in your head man.

I’d actually prefer to talk hockey instead of the shit you and your homey are miring this forum in, you all just can’t move on.

If you guys are going to keep talking about me in this or GDTs at least @ me so I can say my own piece?

It's true, CCR and I have had a lot of fights over the years...mostly about me being a dick as a mod, or him being a dick just for fun. lol The only messaging between us was probably arguing over infractions, littered with flourishes of colorful backhanded insults.

There's a lot I can't say about that period out of respect for those who aren't here to defend themselves anymore. I'll leave it at that.

Now with the artificial power dynamic removed I think we're kind of at an arms-length side-eye truce that could blow up at any minute if we butt heads over some asinine issue we decide to dig in on. AKA just about any topic on HFCaps.

But there is no conthpirathy here regarding the Caps. It's mostly just a bunch of older posters who've been through the paces arguing with some younger or more impatient posters who seem to believe real life is an EA Sports video game. :thumbu:

While I'm glad Torts reversed his thinking on that matter, I was attempting to use that article as evidence that Torts is (theoretically) willing to bench players for making "statements" with their pre-game behavior, and then deliberately chose not to last night.

He's a huge animal-rights guy. But apparently not so clued in to human beings...

No comparison otherwise but so was Adolf H, which is interesting i guess?

Well now. I don't know if you've heard of a little game called The Sims? Perhaps THE MATRIX rings a little bell? Im getting a strong feeling that it seems important to you that we, the people on HF Caps, do not start thinking about the alternative realities you so brazenly dismiss.

Given your background as a moderator, aka "Agent Smith", the whole thing smells like a humungus, huuuuuuuge conspiracy to me.

The hugest!

This promoting lgbt stuff in sports is a north-American thing, and If there was more athletes from conservative and religious countries playing in their respective sports we would have so much more of this happening. Can you imagine let's say someone who practises Islam doing this? Yeah me neither. Trust me OV and other Russians are not doing this at home.

I don't need to imagine. Here's Nail Yakupov, who not only practices Islam but originates in Russia, with pride tape.

You might want to check your assumptions.

Wow you find one, gratz. You want me to find 10 who wouldn't do that? Because it's easy. But no I wont.

You probably don't wan to dog whistle as hard as you are about your prejudiced perspective regarding what people of Islamic faith believe.
Let's just say that I happen to have very close ties to Islam and many other religions too as I work in school we do have a lot of students who practise various stuff and have their own beliefs. Everyone has their own right to do whatever they want and if they don't want to take part in anything they don't have to.

America is MUCH more conservative and religious than most European countries though. Way more so than both your and my country for instance. But you know this:)

f*** this guy

Understanding other people have as much right to exist in this world as you do costs you nothing. It doesn't ruin your religion one bit. It's your ego that's bruised. Asshole.

I nominally agree if you aren't breaking the law people can believe what every they want from the alien spaghetti monster to bigfoot. My personal opinion is there are plenty idiotic beliefs but here in America at least that is fine and dandy. But if one has an opinion that is unpopular don't be a snow flake and think the right of free speech is violated.

As far as Provorov, and other other pro sports, they are simply entertainers getting paid to play a game that 100+ years ago (just generalizing) would not exist. Tbh it feels like a Flyer's PR failure. But I get it not a whole of room for middle ground between not a fan of the same sex issues versus live and let live. Imho Provorov should have said his piece before the boycotting being accountable for his own beliefs like a proper human.
