Looks like there is going to be a big trade between the Blues and the Flyers.

Kevin Hayes likely going to STL, and perhaps a few of the Blues D-men going over to PHI.

If St Louis gives up 11OA as part of the deal you have to imagine Washington will have to trade up if they want Michkov. Philly holding the 7th and 11th picks doesn’t bode well for the Caps’ hopes of Michkov falling. The Flyers can take a chance on MM with 7OA and still get a safer blue chip prospect at 11OA.

Seems more likely to be one of the STL later firsts unless Konecny or Sanheim are included. But even that helps strengthen PHI's ability to move up if the battle begins at 6. Washington's going to have to have a limit to how aggressive they can realistically be on Michkov. They need to figure out what their comfort level is settling for Reinbacher or Benson potentially. Or perhaps dealing the pick instead outright. Give up too much just to move up a couple spots and it could really reduce what else they've got assets for in the trade market otherwise.

Not that they'll necessarily be highly active but they're in a tight spot. Without much of any cap space at the moment--something in the area of a net $2.4M spend--they're going to need to get creative here. Maybe more buyouts or no QO players shake loose, adding more value UFAs but it is a tough sell just sort of running it back with some Bears sprinkled in. I have hope for Carbery but tough finishing the season like they did and just returning under the assumption that better health and a new coach are mostly enough.

Looking like PLD to LA.

PLD to MTL always seemed like a one-way fit to me. He doesn’t really fit into MTL’s rebuild timeline but he makes sense on LAK’s contention timeline.

Vilardi is the rumored centerpiece going back to WPG, but who knows right now.

For what it’s worth I never liked the PLD fit in DC if they were ever considering him, even if they hammered out an extension.

Will be funny to see all those smug Habs fans who thought he was “coming for free In a year“ get the rug pulled out from under them…..

If Vilardi goes to WPG for PLD, I'll be kinda upset knowing that means that Villardi was available and that LA had called Washington about Wilson. Vilardi would be an ideal return in a Wilson trade.

I get your point and agree with it but I kind of expect Wilson would get even more than just Vilardi, as good as he is!

There's a lot of Hawks fans who thought they'd get a ton of 1st and 2nds for taking on any salary even if the guy was still a decent player, so hopefully this'll bring them back to reality.

Anyway, I think that deal establishes the market for Mantha. Hall was a bit more productive than Mantha this past year, but a slightly higher cap hit and an extra year on his contract. If MacLellan wants to get rid of Mantha he can probably find a team that'll gamble on taking him for free, but they won't get anything of value back, and that'd be a tough sell considering what MacLellan paid for him.

Honestly awards shows are. Even the heisman is mostly hot air being blown around trying to build suspense. The only positive is each award is unique and has some sort of history.

Yup. Never watch them. Self-promoting kudos that stretches 10min of activity into 1-2hrs of hype.

What am I missing here? That seems like way too much for Newhook after a disappointing season.

I was actually a little worried that Washington was going to key in on Newhook as a top 6 upgrade. Newhook certainly fits the "rebuild on the fly" profile in terms of age, position, and salary but he isn't, you know, good.

This is such a great example of why Canadian teams have waaaaay more to fix about themselves than taxes. Why are they all constantly doing this shit?
