Yeah that makes sense to me. I bet he had at least a few league minimum offers but he can probably get at least that much in TV without subjecting himself to the rigors of the NHL game.

Excited for the start of the season in a couple of weeks!
Saw this on a THG (youtuber) video. I guess quoted from Samsonov himself on training camp opening day:
"Samsonov turned down better money and better term for a chance to play in Toronto. He wanted a "prove yourself" contract and a shot at a starting role."
I'm laughing pretty hard. Either the Leafs PR team have been working on him or he's flat out delusional. Probably the latter, right? It doesn't get any hotter than Toronto when it comes to media and fan pressure. This guy seemed to fold under pressure in Washington. How the hell is he going to thrive in Toronto?
Don't get me wrong: if he pulls this off I will have the utmost respect for him. Takes a pretty big pair of you know what to make a statement like the above and then follow through on it. But man, if it all goes wrong it's going to get very ugly.

Nolan Patrick will not play this season. Sucks to see a guy with such potential likely lose a career because of injuries.
Also goes to show how important those ping pong balls are. If Colorado doesn’t lose the lottery after their historically bad year and get dropped to 4OA they pick either Hischier or Patrick and not Makar and they’re almost certainly nowhere near as good as they are now. Philly then would likely have either Heiskenan or Makar.

Was not very high on Patrick that draft year but never like to see busts with the high picks.

Autumn has officially started - there are two NHL preseason games on today.
Walked out midafternoon realized I didn't grab a hoodie and almost didn't go back in for it but did and glad I did so later in the evening it is chilly out there.

Define over. If by over you mean we had to read reports today from Edmonton that said Philip Broberg is a nonstarter in a Chychrun trade for them then yes it’s over. If by over you mean he’s been traded and we can stop talking about it for the first time in three years then no, it’s not over.
With all the McMichael stuff I read on here, why not start a package for Chychrun. Personally, I'm not on the anti McMichael wagon.
I don’t want to trade CMM. He will be fine. Only 21. Still needs to mature, but he is our future 3C with 2C potential later in career. Plus I think Fever is a legit 1LD In the making.
