Was just checking out VAN's blueline group. That's some early Caps era shit for Bruce to work with.

I still have them making the playoffs because their forwards are pretty good, Demko is quite good, and Boudreau makes the most out of what he's got in the regular season at least.

I have the same 8 teams coming out of the East, but in the West I have:

1. Colorado
2. Minnesota
3. St. Louis

1. Calgary
2. Edmonton
3. Vegas
WC1. Vancouver
WC2. LA Kings

Nashville doesn't impress me at all despite having Saros, and Dallas didn't really do anything to improve either. So I have both of them out of the playoffs this season.

I'm not sure Vegas makes it. You'd think so but then goaltending and they're starting to get old and don't have great depth. I like Nashville making it IF Johansen/Duchene are able to replicate last season.

Vancouver making it over Dallas seems like a good bet given their pace under BB. They're probably a fair bit behind EDM/CGY unless they take a big step forward, though. Logically you'd think a swap of Garland for a D should be the next step but even then overall I'm not sure they're built to do much damage yet. Kuzmenko could be really good but that D needs lots of work.

Great evening to read a book, play a video game, drink some homebrewed mead, and most importantly not watch hockey.

Interesting - I think Nashville are definitely good enough to take the 3rd Central or WC1 spot. You really think Minny are good enough for 2nd in the Central?? You have a lot of faith in MAF being able to continue to play at a high level / not get injured. They have no proven backup option so they've hitched their wagon to MAF.

Vancouver should take a step forward but I don't think it will be enough to make a WC spot. I have the Kings and Vegas battling for 3rd in Pacific or WC2. Vegas have the offence and defence but Lehner is out for the entire season and that means they are relying on Brossoit and Logan Thompson (who looked great in limited games but we all know that isn't a real test).

Definitely excited for the season! (But yeah, not tonight's games - yawn).

I’ll be honest I didn’t look at Nashville’s roster and didn’t realize they got Niederreiter.

It would be funny if Vegas missed again!

It's crazy how competitive the games are on the opening day of the season. Used to take over a month for hockey to get to this level.

Eichel is looking terrific for Vegas so far.

Kings helmets are distracting….
I despise them so much....

I know it’s early, but those who thought Kadri wouldn’t live up to his contract …the guy is a force on both sides of the ice, tilts the ice. Would have loved to somehow get him.
