I've seen a few variations on this meme. I feel like there was probably an actual one out there somewhere, but most of the ones posted feel like hockey fans trying too hard to be funny. Stuff like the "Who Cares" for Toronto while getting almost every other Canadian team correct is a dead giveaway. I'm supposed to believe they don't watch hockey, but know that Jacob Chychrun is the one notable player on Arizona's roster?

In other news, I'm a grumpy old man.

Bro, you are an old man. Even I know that Team Jacob is from the movie Twilight, and I never even watched those movies. Oh wait, are you trolling me, or did you get trolled? :D

I was too old for Twilight but too young to have kids during Twilight books/movies. So I dodged it entirely.

Still, the rest of it feels forced/fake to me.
 
Detroits statement is a bit… odd. Very cold and to the point, simply says they’re aware he is in the program and they will not comment further. Could read it a lot of different ways from trying to protect his privacy to frustration, that said, even if you’re trying to protect him you’d probably put a generic “we support him” type statement.


Also makes me wonder if whatever issue he’s dealing with extends back to his time here. Provides a lot more context to coach frustration and a career of coaches on every level healthy scratching him if we now know he had some other difficulties he was battling.

I didn’t see their statement, but that sounds odd. You would think there is a bit more support there.

Yeah, their statement is dogshit. Seems like there’s some bad blood there. How hard would it be to add a sentence expressing their support for Jake?

“Jakob remains a valued member of the Red Wings family and he has our full support throughout this process.” There, I’m better at PR than whoever the Red Wings are paying. I’ll take the job.

 
It's a dodgy thing to speculate about. If their statement seems a little frosty, yeah, it could be bad blood. But it could also just be that EVERYTHING said in public these days is scrutinized for any possible little bit of nothing that can be spun into drama.

We've arrived at a place where the only way to avoid that issue is to be a robot about everything, hence a "statement" that really doesn't say anything.

It’s possible, but it’s also important to also remember that businesses are aware every word/action will be endlessly scrutinized and that’s why PR is an extremely big money business. So it’s possible that it’s specifically crafted in that manner because they knew it’d be poured over and they’re peeved/getting ahead of other information, also possible that it’s just their PR department is absolutely ass. In any case, as others mentioned, probably poor taste/no point in speculation as to why Jakub’s out, hope whatever the case may be all parties involved find peace and comfort.
 
Damn, that sucks. Always liked him even though it didn't work out for him here. Hope he gets help now with whatever he is dealing.
 
AJF drew in last night for Winnipeg after a late scratch to Ehlers (my fantasy team weeps). He played 6:26 which was the lowest TOI by anyone on the team and only two other players saw less than 10 minutes. Hoping he gets more ice time as he adjusts to a new team.
