No, they don't! Jeez what a shameWow thats a bad break for Vegas. Who is even left? Do they even have NHL level starters?
Yes.Did Vegas give Patches away for no reason if Lehner is now out?
Yes they did. Its amazing how many mistakes/bold moves they've made since losing in the finals.Did Vegas give Patches away for no reason if Lehner is now out?
Going to the finals may have been the worst thing to happen to that franchise. Instead of patiently building a team they went out every year with unrealistic expectations and tried to replicate their success. Their first year success was mainly attributed to having a team full of outcasts with a chip on their shoulders because all of them were not important enough to be kept by their previous teams. Ironically they tried to replicate this success by acquiring big name players. They basically started doing the opposite of what brought them success in the first place.Yes they did. Yep. They also stabbed MAF in the back for some reason. Dude was the face of the franchise and should have been the first number to be retired. They’re going to have Kadri and Huberdeau signed until they’re each 39. Not ideal but credit to their GM for making them a better team over the next few seasons even without getting a single asset for Gaudreu.Calgary is on the verge of signing Nazem Kadri. I thought he was penciled in as an Islander, but I guess not!
It's not going to be a pretty contract in the long term but Calgary has done pretty well positioning themselves as contenders entering next season. They still have a fantastic defense, a good goalie, and a reworked top 6.
Not great, but you can't replace gaudreau and tkachuk. They did well to remain competitive this year and into the future. Calgary isn't the franchise type to rebuild. They will retool forever and ever.7 years is rough for an already 31 year old, but $7M is pretty darn reasonable for what Kadri brings (and even potentially a steal if he can replicate his career year).
That being said, having to pay to get rid of Monahan to fit Kadri plus losing two of the best wingers in hockey makes it hard to suggest that Calgary had a great off-season, to me. I like Huberdeau, but it's hard to overstate just how good Tkachuk and Gaudreau were last year.
I don't love all of his moves, but as a fan of the game it's nice to see someone willing to take some swings once in a while. Too many NHL GMs just stand pat and wait for success to come to them. It usually doesn't.Gotta say, I am impressed with what Brad Treliving has done in Calgary. Didn’t know much about him so did a quick look and today is his birthday.
But also has been a sharp hockey businessman. Created WPHL and merged it with CHL. Now a GM balling out. Amazing what he has done this offseason after getting kicked around early and coming back swinging. Well done!
You mean take swings to save his job.I don't love all of his moves, but as a fan of the game it's nice to see someone willing to take some swings once in a while. Too many NHL GMs just stand pat and wait for success to come to them. It usually doesn't.
Behind Cooper and perhaps Bednar, it's hard to make the case that there is a better coach out there. I don't like this as a Washington fan. I was hoping Hextall would bring in his own guy to replace Sullivan.
