Also, Malkin is a perennial league-leading slew-footer - perhaps (outside of nut spearing, which is Crosby's bailiwick) the scummiest move a hockey player can pull.
That’s a good point and very true, imagine losing to the Rangers in the first round after the whole Wilson debacle last year. They would never shut up about itWould be nice to play Florida if for no other reason than I feel absolutely nothing towards their team or fans.

The only problem is I want to root for them but I know that a long gritty playoff series will make me hate them for the rest of their run.Would be nice to play Florida if for no other reason than I feel absolutely nothing towards their team or fans.

Yea our schedule is pretty tough, though. After this weekend still have home and home with TOR, @ COL, @ VGK. Then couple against NYI and then NYR to close it out. Maybe the Rangers won’t be playing for anything. At least the Pens don’t have it that easy either. Not sure how long Crosby will be out, but Malkin sure can’t lead those guys - getting into a fight while you’re on a crucial PP in the 3rd isn’t smart hockey - ha!This weekend should be interesting playing Pittsburgh and Boston back to back. There’s a chance on Sunday night that the Caps are just two points behind Pittsburgh with two games in hand and another game vs the Pens still on the docket. If they get 0 points or 1 point that likely closes the door on finishing higher than 8th.
All credit due Matthews….it’s the Toronto fans that will make it unbearable. 64 would be fine By me lol….I will be extremely annoyed if Matthews hits 65.
Toronto fans never really annoyed me before this year, and I like MatthewsI will be extremely annoyed if Matthews hits 65.
FLA giving up 3 to BUF in the 1st. Maybe this really is the matchup we want.
Yea, exactly! I think the 3rd period of that December game ruined Sammy. The prospect of watching him flop around, as their relentless offense swarms, is already stressing me out.And as we know Washington never gives up 3 goal leads.
Feb. 1 is a very strange starting point, like a 35 game sample?Looking at the east trends, i believe history typically favors team that roll into the playoffs “hot” with a solid .625 winning average since Feb 1.
The Caps, Pens, and Lightning are all the worst with a .580 avg. seriously, those three are 14-10 with an OT loss or two. Canes are only 15-9 (.600) and the Panthers, Bruins, Rangers, and Leafs are HOT, all above .650 with Panthers at .740
Panthers would be best if we all prefer a quick and painless death from an opponent we don’t have much bad blood with.
I mean no, not really intentional. But my overall point is when the Pens and Blues won, they had some of the best records in Jan / Feb / March. I think you need more than 10-15 cuz teams start clinching. Just a very simple observation. If we just go by the last 10 games, the same teams are hotFeb. 1 is a very strange starting point, like a 35 game sample?
Did you purposefully take it that far back to include the Caps worst part of the year?
Odd.
I'd think the VAST majority of hockey fans think it's the last 10-15 games where you want to get "hot" and anything beyond that doesn't mean much
I'm sure at this point not even biggest Capitals fans can say that Matthews is not the best goalscorer in the league. I found it very annoying last year when there were people still in denial about it. Ovechkin had his time and he was great but there is a new king in town. Appreciate.
