Will the NHL implement the Tom Wilson rule? Both must be willing combatants.
As long as they Include throwing gloved punches as “willing”…criteria…

honestly we don’t want these terrible refs judging intent.

This wasn’t Emery assaulting Holtby….

Im beginning to think it’s the Leafs year if their goalie can make enough saves. Just buried three goals in like the first 2 minutes here of the 2nd period. Marner is on fire. Matthews is scoring at one of the best rates we’ve seen

Narrator: their goalie will not make enough saves.

Just save up an unscreened shorthanded blue line slapper from Gudas.

Kind of an absurd period of hockey in Florida. Trading penalties back and forth. Shorties. PPGs.

Taking the. over 7 may have been the easiest bet of the year, ha!

Now TOR goalie knocked out of game. And….Giroux just made it a 1 goal game. Bonkers!

I've been trying to gauge who might be the premier shutdown team come playoff time this year but that may not be applicable. Should be a wild one.

So the Rangers are about to catch up on the Hurricanes for top position in the Metro.

There are some really exciting, talented hockey teams around the league, especially if you like goal scoring.

And then there are teams like the Caps - who are quickly fading in the rear view mirror

Florida might be our best best. Their goaltending is just as bad as ours and I'd say without Ekblad our blue line is better. Their forwards are >>>>>> so that's bad but in terms of matchups, could be worse. All the pressure would be on them.

There will be no easy opponents but that's the toughest group to shut down in the league at this point. Bobrovsky being pulled in back-to-back games and no Ekblad (at least at the beginning) makes them beatable but they're going to outscore their mistakes for a while. Long enough to beat the Caps you'd think. Probably enough to get to the third round. After that I'd be less confident of that being viable. Whoever emerges from the Metro should in theory be stronger defensively but man do they have a lot of weapons. The same goes for whoever comes out of the West. I've been thinking Calgary or Minnesota are defensive dark horses but I'm not fully convinced on either. Had NSH done a little something at the deadline I might think about them with the way Josi and others are playing. Probably a stretch. EDM likely getting LAK puts them in the mix to get on a roll and then you never know. You'd think it should be FLA/COL given how stacked they are but the pressure factor is there. We'll see who elevates defensively and in net to steal games.

NYI lost in regulation to DAL and make up no ground. But EDM/NSH win and pass WSH in points percentage. Only DAL/LAK left below them among playoff teams.

Last Playoff spot is fine for me. Boom-or-bust Playoff hockey. Beat the best and move on or get thumped and pick in a good spot at the draft.

Yea it is probably ideal if we limp into the playoffs with the worst points percentage. Let’s get pick 17 baby!

The only difference between first round opponents is whether the Caps get sent packing in 5 games or whether they stretch it out to a game 7 heartbreaker

So I think if the Rangers keep their lead against Pittsburgh tonight and win they’ll overtake Carolina atop the Metro. Assuming that happens, your first round matchups as of today are Washington/Florida, New York/Tampa, Toronto/Boston, and Pittsburgh/Carolina. What a first round that would be.

Ya I think Ny is gonna take the Metro. Carolina has not looked good as of recent. Same with Pitt. So many teams looking like they will be limping into the playoffs.

I'm sure at this point not even biggest Capitals fans can say that Matthews is not the best goalscorer in the league. I found it very annoying last year when there were people still in denial about it. Ovechkin had his time and he was great but there is a new king in town. Appreciate.
