Thank goodness the Caps management in the mid-00s didn't take the same philosophy with a young Ovechkin and his "lack of a 200 ft game" as they did with Sprong, Vrana, and Burakovsky.

Not every player on a roster needs to be a "complete player" in order to have a complete team. Folks on this board are willing to bend over backwards to defend the viability and utility of PK specialists and enforcers, yet want to run guys with offensive and transition ability out of town the second they miss a check.

There’s still time to right this wrong! Burakovsky is a free agent this year, look out. Forsberg too. We could run it back the way it was meant to be

LOL @ comparing those 3 to Ovechkin, a 1OA pick HOF player who knocked guys into next week nearly every shift in addition to scoring at unbelievable clips and leading the team in the locker room.

Can you say any of that about the other three? If they brought half of what Ovie did as a young player they'd never have been traded.

The mental gymnastics some will go through in order to justify their takes on players is amazing.

Remember this is the guy who hulked out over Mojo being traded and didn't stop talking about his zone entries for like 3 years.

The Panthers are really good but their blue line right now isn’t all that intimidating without Ekblad. Weager is great but Forsling, Gudas, Chiarot, Hagg, and Montour doesn’t scream Stanley Cup to me.

Please… point is trades are made. Good for both sides. But then Sprong has a couple of good games and they think he is the next OV. Best thing we could have done was get him off our roster. I wish him well, but he will be the same player he was on the last 4-5 teams he was on.

Mojo has not been good. Hopefully he turns the corner but I liked the move as unsexy as it was. Hope Larsson turns out to be next Kempny. Has that potential. And I’ll take the Mantha every day and twice on Sunday.

The Erat / Forsberg trade I will never forgive!

I have seen small parts of 5 or 6 Ranger games this season when they were not playing the Caps. I have seen all 3 of Reaves goals live. Unlucky me.

I am hoping for the Panthers too only because they are a cursed franchise so it wouldn't be odd at all if we won.

Plus I don't mind the Panthers going for a deep run so w/e if we lose.

MD/VA/WV intersection
McD hits 100 pts
Matthews and Drai at 49G
Matthews plays tonight, Drai tmrw
pretty wild them big round numbers being hit/about to be hit with 12+ gms left

Kreider/OV the other poss/likely 50's
at least 4 likely hitting 100 pts (Drai/Huberdeau/Gaudreau)

Wonder how many put these numbers up in a non-Covid affected season

I just don’t understand how they ALWAYS seem to have the cap space to do stuff like this.

I’m the end though, the difference between Pitt vs Wash is Jarry vs (insert Caps young G).

The rest of the lineups aren’t that far apart.
They look like they have a gear this year that we don’t. You are correct about Jarry.

The honest truth is their stars are better at elevating their linemates so they are always relatively lean on their forwards.

Well, they also lose half their roster to injury every year and get a lot of no brainer development in their depth chart. Being forced to try everyone everywhere seems to leave them with at least one good find every year or three.
