He’d have to change how he was in Philly. Far too controlling, and afraid of trading assets. However, they don’t have a lot of assets to trade (other than NHL assets).

It’s definitely a good job to get, but it’s not going to be an easy one. Cupboard is bare below the NHL level.

What?? I'd prefer the Pens get the most controlling, incompetent, afraid to trade GM in the league. The worse the better

There is NO chance this season is canceled or postponed (maybe individual games, but not the season). None. The TV rights in the US are being renegotiated at the end of this season. Even if they have to play 3-on-3 for the whole game due to missing players, the NHL will play. They remember the TV desert after the lost lockout season. No way the players and owners are going to endanger the next 5-7 years of revenue by tanking their ratings. I just can't see it.

Yeah - doomed wasn't the best word I could have used. I guess I meant "this season is going to be a logistical nightmare" in terms of trying to get all 56 games completed for every team....

???? I’m lost.

I didn’t say I wanted them to get a good GM. I’m just saying Hextall would need to be a lot better to be considered a “Good GM”?

PS - is @Hivemind ever going to “man up” and stop ignoring my posts? Since he certainly loves to “like” anyone that questions what I’m saying?

Let’s go, Hive? No more playing on the periphery? This is getting silly.

You can quote my whole post from earlier. So the Hive can read it.

And I agree I want them to have a bad GM. I don’t think Hex will be bad

That is one of the things I dislike about the ignore button - Francois has me on ignore and he can't see me replying to him offering my opinion on his hockey knowledge, intellect, and general overwhelming cluelessness

At the start of each season I "un-ignore" everybody so I can see if any of them have changed. It usually doesn't last very long.

Which is why people like me can respond, so those that use “ignore” can read about themselves. @francaisvolantsparis

@Hivemind is the same. Maybe it’s the same poster??

I am everyone!

Random question in light of Pastrnak getting back and setting the ice on fire....Who'd you guys rather have : Draisaitl or Pastrnak? Let's pretend there's no stats and all that. Base your opinion solely on your eye test a.k.a. an experience of watching guys play.

In before someone asks why am I comparing a winger and a center: they're both from the 2014 draft and for my taste clearly the two best players from there. That's why.

Draisatl - he has the talent and skill to score goals AND create plays and generate offence. He benefits from playing with McDavid but has proven he is a fantastic player without him.
Pastrnak is probably one of the best snipers in the league, but I think his linemates (Marchand, Bergeron) have a lot to do with creating those scoring chances.
Bottom line for me: would the player be as good if he moved to a worse team? I think Draisatl would, but Pastrnak would struggle with less talented linemates.

I agree that Draisaitl is a less dependant on his linemates player but I disagree that Pastrnak would struggle on a lesser team. What kind of hockey that team is playing is a much more relevant topic. Because if we talking about teams like Arizona I think nobody would excel playing for them. They rely on quick strike offense rather than puck possession hockey and that makes a lesser room for creativity and passing game. On the other hand you look at teams like Jets, Sabres, Hawks. They are not good overall but they know how to score goals and they play a pro-offense style. I think Pasta would equaly excel on any of those teams or even become a bigger star by taking on a bigger responsibility kinda like what Panarin did when he got traded by the Hawks and took over in Cbus/NY.

The Laine experiment in Columbus is going swimmingly:

He didn't play at all in the final 26:19 of the game.

Wonder if when he's a UFA he'd take a super cheap deal to play with Ovi - at this rate of decline he'll need a "show me" contract soon anyway

I'm sorry but I do not understand this desire that some people have to bring back players like Connolly and DSP. What am I missing here? Are we just giving up on icing a competitive team and going for a pure nostalgia trip? Those guys were crucial during our Cup run and I'll never forget what they did... but there is a reason why they're out of the league or getting healthy scratched for four games in a row. Their best days are behind them and they're not elite skill level players like Ovi who can keep performing past their "prime" years. Bringing back Connolly and DSP is not going to help the 2021 Capitals.
