Watched the PIT/NYR game after Caps tonight...
with PIT down Kris-To-Pher TheTang/Dumbo/Petterson/Ricola/Matheson on D, they pretty much dominated the 1st 40 minutes and zone time, but only up 1-0 and 0-5 on the PP. 3rd pd Rangers finally got some possession and mo and ended up winning 3-1 (EN last second)
Pens ended up 0-6 on PP and on a 0-fer 18 run, lol
P.O. Joseph on D was pretty good though, he'll prob stay up when team gets healthy (he's brother of TBL's Joseph I think); Marino and Tanev had good games too

He looks to be officially done as an NHL goalie or starter.

Put it in context, though: Demko has been sub-.900 in all but three games this season, two of which were against the Senators. All three of Holtby’s sub-.900 games have been against Montreal. Small sample sizes in both cases, and the team is not playing well at all (especially defensively).

I know the analytics guys expected some regression, but they really messed up in their blue line retool.

But one of the consequences of playing the same 8 or so teams all season is that some teams are better matched for some players, and vice versa. That’s certainly going to distort some stats, especially when you’re in a division with McDavids and Matthews-types and most of the stronger defencemen are in America,

Toffoli has scored 8 (of his 9) goals against Vancouver. That's insane

And Demko at .875 on the night. Jake Allen of all people stopping 30 of 32 shots. Gotta wonder if a shakeup is coming to either the coaching staff of back end of the Canucks sooner or later, because if they're going to continue to bleed goals like this their season will be over sooner rather than later.

Im just glad that his is not here anymore. For the past 3 years he has been consistently bottom of the league in sv% and gaa. Crazy to think that if he had become ufa two years prior he would be getting paid $10M+ right now.

The NHL's official tweet actually says it's weather related. Because of the storm, they haven't had a chance to do the required contact tracing. As of now, seems like click-bait more than anything else.

Sorry I forgot to reply to this. You are right the storm delay caused them to not get their test results back or contact them about all the positive tests, I'm not sure which one.

I meant I would be mad too if that were the Caps, because in that case you should postpone the game which they didn't and those players infected with COVID on the Devils were allowed to play. Now Buffalo players are infected too:

It's a tough call for the league. All of it is. But as the responsible organization, it's best to err on the side of caution.

Why? NBA hasn’t. NFL didn’t. I get that’s it’s a cold weather sport so it causes more issues, but no more than the NBA.

I think they will slog it out unless 6+ teams have to be shut down.

I do think the season will be extended beyond their current timelines. Or perhaps shortened schedule (less likely).

Absolutely. But are we sure that Sabres players are infected? Could be they're just considered exposed, right?

That is true. It's hard to tell with all the secrecy - which is every patient's right.

So with secrecy in mind, the 2 Buffalo players are said to be Taylor Hall and Ristolainen :sarcasm:

Devils are up to 10 players in protocol, possibly more now I haven't checked in awhile.

how could you extend a week or 2 when the playoff teams that didnt get covid have to sit at home and get rusty

There is already a week built in for make up games unless I'm mistaken. Also they did the same last year and made it less than ideal with the top teams playing "tune up/glorified pre-season" games prior to the playoffs actually starting.
