Some of these quotes are true though lol...

“I love the Cap, but there is no unique food option unless you count Chick-fil-A.” - (This!! I need more than just Ben's Chili Bowl)

“The Capital One/Verizon/MCI is older and a little outdated. ‘Leaners’ in the upper section obstruct view. BUT, you can’t beat the downtown location. There’s a Metro stop IN the building, walkable bars everywhere, and pay parking not too far away. Atmosphere is ELECTRIC.”

“I love the atmosphere of the arena, I’m just disappointed with the arena. They just did a massive renovation and I don’t feel like I’m benefitting from any of it. The bathrooms are still gross. The food options are still bland and expensive and served on a concourse that bottlenecks terribly. The seats got smaller and the leg room worse. Don’t even get me started on the ‘cup holders.'”

“Capital One is always rocking, plus ‘Unleash the Fury’ is a great arena tradition.”

“Capital One Arena has an electric atmosphere, although it has quieted down slightly in recent years, and incredible sight lines. It is easy to get to, walking distance to a ton of bars and restaurants, there is a sports book attached to it, as well as decent food and drinks options.”

I guess they changed up Wells Fargo recently? From the Quotes section, I guess a lot of fans voted on how they viewed Wells Fargo in the past before the renovations? They seem mostly positive.

And wtf??? Philadelphians at a Flyers game talking about how great their vegetarian and vegan options are??

“The recent renovations to the Wells Fargo Center took things from ‘indifferent’ to ‘love’ the arena. While the ‘bowl’ did not change, other than new seats, the concourses went from tight crowded spaces and average to below-average concessions to lots of open space and places to eat and mingle, and terrific concessions with a huge variety of options. Adding huge windows to both ends also adds to the experience with a beautiful view of the city on the north end. The new scoreboard is also amazing. Like having a brand new arena.”

“Gritty! Also really, really great vegetarian and vegan food options. The vegan cheesesteak is great. Also, Gritty.”

“It’s been a great building for years and is only getting better with the updates being made. Flyers fans have always been one of the best fan bases in the league.”

“Ugh, just ugh. The Philadelphia sports (precinct) has never been fun to get to, and when you get there, you’ve got an over-wide bowl with almost every seat miles from the ice, and aggressive gameday music and video mix which inspires Philadelphia fans to be as obnoxious as their reputation. At least there’s Gritty.”

“It doesn’t have a neighborhood feel at all, so it gets a low score on bars/restaurants. I don’t think it is that important. On weekdays, I just want to go and get out easy. Also, Gritty.”

I think the food score is dragging Capital One Arena down. My advice to anyone coming to DC in the future to watch a game is not to eat in the stadium. It's too expensive and the food is uncreative. There are great places around the stadium where you could easily eat and drink for less.

Well, they got Nassau right. Don’t agree with Wells Fargo being so low, either before or after renovations. Wells Fargo is definitely a better overall stadium experience than Capital One, especially for food and upper bowl sight lines (damn leaners). It seems like they most heavily penalized it for location, which I don’t agree with at all (although this is one area where Cap One wins the comparison). Wells Fargo is conveniently located near a dedicated subway station and between the two major interstates on the area, which plenty of parking in the vicinity. The only thing I can think to dock it for would be suburban idiots not realizing how the streets work and causing traffic jams. Wells Fargo definitely wins on food and amenities (yes, even the veggie/vegan fare), and the “cheap seats” are way better. I’ve loved the upper bowl row 15 for a while, since it has coat hooks and permits standing. But now they have a new standing room section up top (with first come/first serve bar stool-like seating) that’s absolutely terrific and affordable.

100% agreed. I usually stop at the Mongolian BBQ place around the corner in China Town (or at least I used to, who knows what Covid will do to buffet-like dining).

Haven't really gone to any stadiums other than Washington's so definitely need to go to some away games in the future. Rangers and Devils seem accessible (Devils / Newark Station Amtrac stop is a walk from the stadium)

I'm curious to see what happens with the neighborhood after fans are back in stadiums. Even before COVID a lot of the restaurants were closing down. There was a Starbucks across the street from the Gallery Place stop, it got shut down. The Thai place inside the building across from the arena (under the movie theater) is shut down too, supposedly the rent is too high now for many of the restaurants. The Green Turtle is gone, Penn Commons is gone.

Ah it's just hard to picture Flyers fans going in to settle in for a night of hockey with a nice vegan cheesesteak. I know the Philly metro area has changed dramatically over the years, just hard to picture..

I mean, their mascot is named Gritty lol.

Heh, fair I guess. I’ve always found that most of the “stereotypical” Philly fans are actually from south jersey rather than Philly itself, and they're far more common at Eagles games or during bandwagon stretches than typical Flyers or Phillies games. Hockey/the Flyers have always been more popular among the Philly punks and hipsters than the Eagles, and thus the popularity of vegan fare. Not to mention Philly is just a great food city.

Philly really is. Great food city. I think Center City is just overall great. Would love to visit more areas and places to eat in Philly.

I admit I've never been to Wells Fargo, and really haven't interacted with Flyers fans themselves. I had a bunch with Phillies fans though, and they seemed to be pretty much on par with Eagles fans. Although Mets fans are 10 times worse. Mets fans are the absolute worst.

Ironically, I’m basically never in center city. There’s so much good food in south Philly and west Philly and Fishtown that I never feel th need to fight for parking downtown.

Phillies fans were the most obnoxious around their World Series and peak contention years, when the bandwagon was out in force. Granted I’m an Os fan rather than a Nats, so I maybe didn’t get the worst of it from em as I don’t have the division rivalry nor the Bryce Harper swap.
