I haven't read every single post this season but has anyone talked about the possibility of 2-week quarantines like Dubois to WPG at the TDL? Imagine trading for a guy and not having him for 2 weeks after the TDL...

Sabres' games are ppd until monday.
The next game they can play (at least for the moment) it's against Caps on feb 11.
Should be an easy 2 points for the Caps.

That doesn't reflect well on Pittsburgh. Who turns down an opportunity to interview for a major league GM spot? I wonder what Drury knows that we don't.

This season is doomed....now the Wild are postponing games.

Canadian Division doesn't seem to be having these problems. Maybe this is a way for Canada to finally win a Stanley Cup after all these years :sarcasm:

I feel like every game in the East goes to OT. Three point games every night.

I was bored so I looked at total games played in each division and number of OT's. Sadly, it just confirms that our division is way closer than any of the others.

East 39 games played / 16 OT's = 41.03 percent of all games go to OT
Central 35 / 12 = 34.29 percent
North 37 / 6 = 16.22 percent
West 39 / 8 = 20.51 percent

I was I would be disappointed with the Penguins hiring Hextall because I think he'd do a good job.
He’d have to change how he was in Philly. Far too controlling, and afraid of trading assets. However, they don’t have a lot of assets to trade (other than NHL assets).

It’s definitely a good job to get, but it’s not going to be an easy one. Cupboard is bare below the NHL level.

There is NO chance this season is canceled or postponed (maybe individual games, but not the season). None. The TV rights in the US are being renegotiated at the end of this season. Even if they have to play 3-on-3 for the whole game due to missing players, the NHL will play. They remember the TV desert after the lost lockout season. No way the players and owners are going to endanger the next 5-7 years of revenue by tanking their ratings. I just can't see it.

Very unlikely. Yes. No chance? I wouldnt say that

Every player would take a massive hit to their salary (from the escrow account), and the league as a whole will lose large amounts due to a reduction in TV revenue going forward (they are posting record viewership numbers right now). The league might not go bankrupt, but it will be financially crippled for the next decade. No one, player or owner, wants that. They'll risk their health to keep playing (they already do every night). There's no way (outside of government mandates that force a closure) the season gets canceled...

See? You have already found one way from no chance to very unlikely but...
I didn't mention "civilization-ending meteor strike," either, but I figured most folks with above room temperature IQ would get the gist of the sentiment. I'll try to be more literal for the cognitively impaired out there. Always want to be inclusive!

The NHL will NOT voluntarily cancel or suspend the season (and that includes as a response to viral outbreaks). Some entity beyond their control would have to force closure. And since the Biden Admin has already promised kids will be back live in schools within 100 days, I don't see the government stepping in to cancel hockey.

Happy now?

I think you just need to give more cred to the idea that disaster big enough to kill the season is possible.
Might that mean that the disaster would be big enough that stopping the season is forced on them when they would have stopped anyway?
