Laine will be fine. I'm sure Torts had a legitimate reason to bench him. The kid has always been pretty straightforward in terms of speaking his mind and never minced words. It just didn't go well with a guy like Torts and he showed him on the spot that some stuff he said is not acceptable on his team. The kid will know better next time. I also like that it is not related to any on ice situation otherwise it would not have been a good look for Torts because Laine is a sniper first and foremost. He has never been defensively sound and proactive in his zone, it's not his game. To bench him for a couple defensive lapses in his 4th game with the team..I don't know, would seem too harsh to me. Anyways, I expect Laine to heat up down the line and return to what he always done best - putting the puck in the net.

Nosek tests positive during the 2nd period of Vegas’ game. Game allowed to continue, but practice is cancelled for VGK (lol). It’s also looking now like 2 linesmen may have caught it from on-ice transmission during the Sabres-NJD game, despite the NHLs previous insistence of no on-ice transmission. This season is rapidly slipping out of control. Time to take a hard reset and have the league figure out how to fix it.

I was wondering why Refs werent wearing masks. We cant figure out how to replace a whistle in 2021??? Also how did they not make the benches larger? Guys are still sitting ontop of eachother they have no Fans make the bench area like NFL or NBA

Don't you see how absurd it all is, though?? It's a full contact sport. It doesn't matter how much space there is between players on the bench, when they are on the ice crashing into each other, sweat and spit flying, and what about when there is a fight? Or even when players all get in a scrum on the ice and start pushing and shoving?

Imagine one of those super slow-mo videos where they show droplets / particle transmission - when people are having a normal conversation. Then imagine how crazy it would be when you're playing a full contact sport and expending as much energy and effort as you can?

I find the absurdity to be that they’re not supposed to get infected in the first place, not that these middling risk reduction measures are supposed to be foolproof....clearly they can’t and aren’t supposed to be anything more than backup measures.

I kinda love how unapologetically gaudy it is.

so is this, it doesn’t make it right

No I just meant he was the one to complain to the league about the mirrored visor and got it banned right?

The NHL hates individuality.

This is why the Burke hire is not so bad. Not that he's entirely wrong about their tenacity to some extent. But if they, say, trade Kapanen & McCann for grit, play Ceci more and bring in Gubranson types on D then they'll likely just spin their wheels. They mainly just need better middle and lower of the lineup players period and more hungry youth at low cap hits.

Dude gets it at the foundational level...let’s see how they execute. Wonder if we don’t see some trades for some size....

Does he? Or is it just cartoonish? Tampa Bay has not lacked smaller, quick players. They made a couple of key middle six adds in Coleman & Goodrow but they're a highly skilled possession team.

Sure, rebuilding the 2007 Anaheim Ducks would be great but good luck finding Pronger and that year's checking line. As a general competitive identity it's fine but also prone to oversimplification. The very best team play hard but also fast. If he tries to make them the Kings of years past it probably won't work these days.
