Statement: Erik Karlsson has the worst contract in the NHL. Request: Prove me wrong.
I'll say this: it's certainly the worst in the context of the respective team. SJ is paying Karlsson, Burns, and Vlasic (ages 30, 35, and 33) a combined $26.5 million through 2024-2025. That's 33.5% of the Cap.

Combine their production on the season and it's 2 goals, 5 assists, -11 in 21 games.

Barkov - 35 goals - 61 assists = 96 points, 5th in Selke voting, few Hart votes.

Backstrom - 33 goals - 68 assists = 101 points, 10th in Selke voting, few Hart votes.

How is that far off? He had a terrible team where as Capitals team in '09-'10 was ridiculously dominant. His 400 points in Selke voting are much more than the 51 Backstrom had to finish 10th.

He had a terrible team. His team was constantly behind and pushing for offense. His team was losing all the time and there was no pressure to win. You should go back and read why Mike Green dropped in the draft. It had a lot to do with how awful his team was.

In the time Barkov has been in the league Backstrom is 9th in scoring and Barkov 32nd. Backstrom is the league leader in assists and Barkov is 40th. Since coming into the league Backstrom is 5th in scoring and 1st in assists. I see no comparison between these players

So it is easier to score on a terrible team rather than the team considered arguably the most offensively talented in recent history? Please do educate me on how that is? They had 1 other guy with more than 71 points and that was Huberdeau. If they were behind all the time and it was easy to score then why is that?

We are talking about a single season here, not career.

Well...Brady Anderson hit 50 in a single season

Classic txpd debate strategy. One guy compares peak seasons and he brings career stats into it lol.

Not easier. More opportunity. Protecting a late lead means conservative play. Catching up late means pulling out the stops for more offensive. For a top offensive player it means more ice time too.

Bobrovsky is the worst contract. $10 million until 2026 for a sub-replacement level goaltender, when you have an actually elite prospect in Spencer Knight who isn't far off from NHL duty.

I don’t want to be “that guy” but can somebody explain the difference between Vegas and Us? Why did they get out of a game and the league evaluating the schedule to work around their positive test and we were just SOL with missing players? If I’m missing something I would like to know what that is.

clearly they pulled their Ace....”what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”....

I don't know the details, so take this with a grain of salt, but I assume the Vegas situation doesn't involve a blatant flouting of the protocols. Our guys blew off the rules, so we're not entitled to a postponement for that. If Vegas' players got exposed without anyone obviously breaking the rules, then why would they be punished?

They're the ones getting punished though. We get to watch more games with our team and they get to put together a good record run

Remember it may also depend on local isolation rules/guidelines, and the extent of their track and tracing. We only have 1 guy who tested positive (as far as the media know) but then 3 guys who were at a disproportionate risk of infection compared to anyone else. (Entirely possible 1 or more of them have tested positive, though).

I think it also depends on the impact - you can replace a D or a G more easily than a coach. Vegas have 3 coaches test positive.

We were fined $100k as a punishment in a year where that’s a lot of money to a team. I don’t see evidence anything else is about punishment.
