Yeah, that's for me a big character flow (not hanging out with your teammates in a hotel room!). Though it's worth of risk to get a 1C. This trade made the Jets a better and more balanced team. While Jackets became also better as facing Laine is scarier than PLD and maybe the Jackets finally got their franchise player who will want to stick around till the end. IMHO, it's a win-win for both teams and even for players too.
 
Barkov is an interesting name that's been floating around the trade rumors. What do you think we'd have to package with Kuzy to get him?

Also his dad is a part of the org. with the AHL team I believe. He may have just been using the disguise of "larger market" so he didn't have to say "F Torts"

Vrana + or Wilson + I would guess.

Kuznetsov propably won't waive though. So i would guess Wilson + Orlov + CMM and propably a pick too.

Kuznetsov is one of my favorite players, but Barkov is one player I’d consider moving him for. Kuznetsov has a modified NMC. Is Florida likely on his 15 team no tradelist?

Looking at their roster/ depth, Florida looks like they could really use some higher quality defensmen or D prospects. I think Kuznetsov + one of the Cap’s better D prospects could be an interesting starting point for a deal. But who knows? I’m still surprised there are even rumors about Barkov being available. Unless he has expressed concerns re-signing with Florida, why is his name out there?

If you had Barkov and thought about trading him who would you ask for?

Barkov is among top-10 most valuable assets in the league. If I had him I would propably ask for Carlson + Wilson. Thinking they would trade him for Kuznetsov is borderline insane. But sure i would do that in a second, it's just not very realistic from Panthers POV.

Depends on what Florida's needs and plans are. I can't imagine they'll want to tear it down and start over again given they haven't even finished their last rebuild. If they trade Barkov their centers are Wennberg, Acciari, and... ? Seems like they'd have a great argument for worst center depth in the NHL if they don't get one in return for Barkov. And I think Florida already has so many RHD that they have Gudas playing LD.

Anyway, you're probably right in terms of how valuable he is but any package that doesn't return a center is bad news, I think. Columbus will be an interesting case study as a comparable since they also have no center depth now that they traded PLD for two wingers. Their top three centers are Max Domi (who was the fourth best center in Montreal and asked to move to wing), Alex Texier, and Riley Nash.

I do overvalue him. He's like Backstrom in his peak. Would you trade that for Kuznetsov?

It's easy to pin the blame on the personnel changes they saw during the offseason, particularly to the blue line, but God how many times can 2-on-1s and odd-man breakaways take place routinely each game before the coaching staff wakes up? Seems like every game at least 1 or 2 goals are scored against them where the goaltender is utterly hung up to dry, whoever is in the net. Also spending a lot of time on the PK, too.

35 goals, 96 points and 5th in Selke voting the last full season. That’s right on par with Backstrom's peak season and he didn't have the most dominant player of his era next to him.

I wonder if Mantha has quit on Yzerman. That defense on the Hawks 4th goal was worse than the shift from Dubois.

Too early to say but it wouldn't surprise me.

Alright, fair enough as you obviously value wingers highly. I would take him over the last 6 guys on that list.

He's more valuable than any goalie, any old guard player and other than Jones and Hedman i don’t think there are many D's more valuable than him, IMO.

I didn’t mention Eichel, or Dahlin, or any of the recent #1’s or Vasi, or guys like Josi, Pietrangelo, Carlson, Makar, Hamilton, McAvoy, Hughes (x2) etc etc etc.

Barkov is a fantastic player. I'd only compare him to other centers and I think he's top 10 or just outside.
Easiest thing to do is look at other centers and say would you take them over Barkov? I would take Barkov over Crosby and Malkin, and I'd take him over Kuznetsov any day of the week.
 
I dont watch much Panthers hockey other then when we play them. I did watch all their playoff games in the bubble and Barkov didnt do much for me. I know lots of guys were bad in the bubble but hes def not top 10 in my books
