I think he was saying that Barkov is a top-10 most valuable asset, so with that in mind you have to factor in the players cap hit relative to their play. Obviously Mackinnon is the most valuable asset in the league, relative to production to contract. After that I think it is hard to find someone better than Barkov. For the next two years, he is 100% one of the most valuable assets in the league.

He directly compared him to Backstrom, which is why I asked if he thought he was a HofF player.

and yeah, I know the salary was part of it. I mentioned it in one of the posts before the one you quoted. I was using salary. I still in no way, shape, or form see Barkov as a top 10 valuable asset. Maybe top 20, but even that is debatable.

I dont watch much Panthers hockey other then when we play them. I did watch all their playoff games in the bubble and Barkov didnt do much for me. I know lots of guys were bad in the bubble but hes def not top 10 in my books

That said, would be very surprised if this isn’t related to their former AHL coach assaulting one of the other coach’s wives. They’re being sued and it seems fairly well documented that a cover-up took place which has landed the Penguins in a lawsuit.
