I’m going to skip the writeup because some very nice people insist that Van Halen was a great band and I don’t want to attack their enjoyment in the name of this jerk.

*Edit* No canine naps were harmed in the making of this post. She woke up for dinner.

Don’t let anyone shame you for cruising down the street in the dog days listening to “Boys of Summer,” Bern!

I don’t love the Eagles, but I’ve never felt the revulsion some people feel. They’re fine? Sometimes good. I don’t think I’ve actively sought them out since 8th grade, but I don’t actively avoid them. :dunno:

Yep, got my Wayfarers on to see a deadhead thesis on a Fletcher pick.

I wouldn't put The Eagles anywhere near my top 10 bands and I've heard Hotel California enough for the rest of eternity, but their repertoire contains decent enough songs to not make me scramble to turn the radio dial. I actually like Henley's solo work better, especially his cover of Leonard Cohen's Everybody Knows.

Being in the journalism world when Actual Miles came out, I was naturally attracted to Dirty Laundry, and The End of the Innocence is easy listening with decent lyrical panache.

I don’t love the Eagles, but I’ve never felt the revulsion some people feel, at least musically. They’re…..fine? Sometimes good? I don’t think I’ve actively sought them out since 8th grade, but I don’t actively avoid them. They’re radio music. :dunno:

Imagine a young Striiker…

19 hours in a car, driving from PA to Orlando

Straight through the night with no stops, other than for gas and food

A “Best of The Eagles” CD played on repeat the entire time

I can still remember my brother screaming

The people who were there said he fell asleep before the CD started

They said it was me that was screaming

Excellent songwriting and vocals. Good music objectively. To me, they use too much twang. I have trouble with twang. They're also tremendously overplayed in my opinion, but that's just because they annoy me sometimes.

When they go full rock, I have no issues. Victim of Love for example. But Peaceful Easy Feeling? I could do without that for a bit. I'll listen to it 1 out of 8 times on the radio. In other words, if the Eagles are playing on classic vinyl, they're the "go back to it if nothing is on any other channel" choice. I'll rarely if ever search for them specifically on Spotify

Yeah, that will implant revulsion at even the greatest of albums.

Van Halen slaps. Dave was a jerk and it's a shame he held Eddie back. Dave actually was what people believe Yoko was

I went with a buddy of mine, and his girl to the stadium series, or winter classic can’t remember which, in Pittsburgh. I had to sit in the back, due to his girl being there. My buddy just got around to getting his drivers license and was still nervous as hell to drive. He had a newer(at the time) Metallica album in the CD player, older used car, that had maybe 6 songs on it. That stupid ass cd played over and over on repeat the entire trip down. He was too scared to change the cd while driving and she was too dumb to know how to change it.

Bringing repressed memories of torture to the forefront. This is what the Quackverse is all about.

Now we know why Striiker doesn’t listen to music. I think you were raised in an Eagles cult. 19 hours of the same album is straight torture, doesn’t really matter what album. Everything about you makes sense now.

This is why subconsciously you come to a hockey forum to argue about the same arguments on repeat the entire time. Childhood, man.

One of my college roommates listened to "House of the Rising Sun" on repeat for weeks.

Then, one day he got mad at us, put on "I Try," turned up the volume, locked his door (we were in a multi-room campus apartment), and left for the weekend.

Yeah, but that's only a small part of why I'm the broken husk of a person that I am today.

Oh, and there was also a year where it was the same thing but Bon Jovi. I never even had a chance...

This is the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen on this forum.

Swear on my life.

The Eagles was my dads fault.
Bob Jovi was my moms.

When I hear the opening to Desperado or Hotel California I have a flashback to going down I95 at 4AM. In later years we ended up getting a portable DVD player installed and then we watched movies the whole way (great movies like Super Troopers, Shaun of the Dead, and Dumb and Dumber were always included on the way there and back)… but the damage was done.
